Eleanor (1463 KP) rated Killing Floor: (Jack Reacher 1) in Books
May 26, 2019 (Updated May 26, 2019)
This book introduces ex-military policeman Jack Reacher who is currently of no fixed abode travelling where his whims take him. When he passes through the small yet pristine town of Margrave, Georgia, he is promptly arrested for murder. As the out of town stranger he must convince the town of his innocence, the investigation leads to uncovering uncomfortable truths about this little town.
It was well paced and action sequences weren't too over the top hard to follow affairs. Ok you need to suspend some belief to get along with the plot. I usually struggle to let maddening coincidences go but this book didn't seem to tick me off too much so they must of been done fairly well. Eye-roll at the romance line but again not overdone.
All in all this was a great holiday read, fast paced page turning fun. I will visit with Mr Reacher again
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2206 KP) rated A Christmas Peril: A Theater Cop Mystery. Book 1 in Books

This is a wonderful start to a new series. With my love of A Christmas Carol and live theater, I was looking forward to it, and it didn’t disappoint at all. The mystery is a modern-day twist on the isolated house mystery, and it is strong, with some surprises before we reach the logical end. Sully is already a wonderfully developed main character. There are some strong supporting characters here, and I’m looking forward to seeing the rest grow as the series progresses.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book.

Deborah (162 KP) rated The Perfect Murder (Inspector Ghote, #1) in Books

Now, I do love a good mystery, or what my mother calls 'a nice murder' and although I was entertained enough by this I don't think it will finding a permanent home on my bookshevles. It's not that there is anything particularly wrong with it, perhaps it just wasn't my cup of tea? I found most of the characters in the book to be completely frustrating and unhelpful so I felt frustrated too! Lala Varde I could have quite cheerfully strangled myself with his obstructiveness and childish rhyming language!
One thing I do usually enjoy in mystery novels is trying to work out the solution and then feeling particularly pleased with myself if I get anywhere near the truth. I think that was difficult to do here, so maybe another reason why I wasn't taken with it?

Lindsay (1717 KP) rated The Proctor Hall Horror (The Bayou Hauntings #7) in Books
Oct 21, 2020
Did Noah slay his whole family or did someone else? You will be guessing and trying to figure it all out until the last page. This book does have quite a horror to it. I do not read many Horror genre books. This one has me wanting more from this author and this series.
I am into paranormal shows and ghosts. This one does have quite a few deaths with a bit of chilling to it. Not a lot that it could be creepy. Though what happens in Proctor Hall seems quite scary terrifying, though I am not scared much. This one had me more.
This has it all, murder, mystery, ghosts, and hauntings. There is even a bit more. What will happen to Noah and others? What secrets does Proctor Hall hold? Good for those that are looking for a Halloween book for themselves. This book is set with it all for those that are looking for ghosts, hauntings, mystery and so much more.
Lyndsey Gollogly (2893 KP) rated Ghost of a Chance (A Chintz 'N China Mystery, #1) in Books

I absolutely loved this book! It was well written, clever ,funny and spooky. I really should not read ghost stories in the dark at 3am in the morning. I was so freaked out at one point or maybe I'm getting soft. I did genuinely enjoy the book though is was everything a murder mystery/ghost story should be! I just love Emeralds character she's not the usual skinny beautiful woman most main characters usually are, the fact she's a single mum trying to deal with daily life as well as ghost hunting and mystery solving.
Highly recommended
