Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief review
This book is such an amazing, attention gripping story about the adventure of half blood Percy Jackson. The link between the real world and the fantasy world of Greek mythology makes this novel stand out amongst others, it makes the whole plot of the story much more exciting as well as being educational about Greek beliefs in mythology.

Technically well done, looks great, story is entertaining, ghost mythology interpretation is fun (0 more)
Doesn’t live up to it’s predecessor and not even close to the same emotional punch, slow, not the best Turn of the Screw adaptation I’ve seen (0 more)

A story of an American boy who flees to Europe to discover himself.

However he discovers love (with a twist) in what becomes a tale of beauty, darkness and mythology rolled into one

It is a pleasant suprise

I received this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

This book is dynamite! Packed to the gills with mythology, Warriors, Witches, Women explores legendary female figures.
For having so much information it's a surprisingly quick read!

It's no secret that I've thoroughly enjoyed all of Riordan's mythology based series. My favorite was the Khane Chronicles, but I have to say Magnus Chase is off to a grand start. Norse mythology has such a long & many layered history to it that it fits seamlessly into Riordan's brand of storytelling. As usual there is another great crop of characters as well as a tie in to his old faithful...Percy. I look forward to seeing what other adventures are in store for Magnus & his hall mates as they try to prevent the destruction of the Nine Worlds.

Mythology
One of my top 10
This novel was one of the most original works I have read. It combines mythology from all over the world into an epic journey within the dirty underside of the melting pot that is America. The main characters are well fleshed out. An interesting aspect of the book is the “coming to America” chapters that give the backstory on how the old gods in the novel came to be in America. This novel definitely focuses more on the journey to get to the climax rather than the climax itself.

Great mythological story

For anyone who enjoys mythology, thus is a great book. You get to know some of the gods and goddesses from Greek mythology. The only thing I found a little unbelievable was parts if the love story between Than and Therese, although it was lovely to read as a young girl fell in love with the Hod of death, I sometimes forgot that she was supposed to only be 15 as some of it was written as though she was an adult. I would give it 3.5 stars overall as it was a fun little read!

"The setting: Vienna, during the Ottoman siege of 1529. The hero: a jaded Irish mercenary. The ingredients: demonic powers, a supernaturally significant beer, some Vikings, a touch of Arthurian mythology and a war to decide the fate of the world. The result: a glorious romp."

I've always been intrigued by mythology but I've always known more Greek mythology than Roman so the chance to read more of the Roman mythology and a tale of the God of Love, Cupid, himself? I had to read this.

Psyche is the human Princess whose looks have stunned her cities inhabitants into following her around and giving her gifts all her life. She can do no wrong in their eyes. But in giving the gifts to Psyche and not to the Gods, they've angered them and Psyche must be sacrificed by her family to marry a winged monster. But not all is as it seems.

I was really drawn into this story so easily. I was intrigued by the person Psyche was forced into marrying and it was amazing how quickly I came to like him. Of course I figured out who her husband was pretty quickly and the scenes between them were rather intimate at times and not always sexual.

Both Cupid and Psyche are looking for someone to love them for them and not for their looks. It was great to see the journey they both went on and I even cried at one point because I was so invested in them.

If you like mythology or any of Wendy Higgins' other book then you should give this a try.
