Finally got round to watching this on Netflix. Not one that really stood out as a must watch. It does have a great cast of top stars. It's a strange film though, part disaster film and more political satire. Definitely poking fun at a range of people and topics in recent times, especially in America. Conspiracy theorists, social media, Trump supporters. It's a long film and while funny at times I wouldn't say it was hilarious. Worth checking out for the cast.

When I picked this book up again the other day, I got straight back into it and read it all within a couple of hours.

The Baudelaire’s now find themselves in the boot of Olaf’s car, arriving at a carnival in the Hinterlands. They disguise themselves using his costumes so he won’t find them, and become an attraction at the carnival, alongside numerous other carnival ‘freaks’.

This is one of the few books where the Netflix adaptation was actually better. I felt that in the series Neil Patrick Harris really helped Olaf’s character become more sinister in this one than the book did.

I loved the character of Kevin, the ambidextrous ‘freak’. He was absolutely hilarious and was really entertaining. The way he thought he was more of a freak than everyone else because both of his hands were equally as strong had me giggling.

I also feel like the Netflix adaptation improved Madame Lulu as well by making her Olivia, which made some of the plot points later on a lot more shocking. Madame Lulu in the book felt a bit undeveloped and unexplained.

I sort of wish I’d have read the book before watching these particular episodes because then maybe my opinion would have been different on the characterisations.

Possibly my best friend
I use Netflix on multiple devices including my laptop, TV, playstation and phone. On all devices (but especially the phone app) the service is so user-friendly. Struggling to find something to watch? No problem, Netflix will recommend you different genres of films and TV shows based on the different things you have previously watched and on how highly you have rated them.

One of the more recently added features has been a god send. The ability to download TV shows and films whilst you have an internet connection in order for you to watch them at a later time when you may not have a connection is brilliant for those long journeys or when you're just running low on data.
The only downside about this is that not everything is available to download at this moment in time but things are always being added so I'm sure it's just a matter of time until your favourite things to watch are available!

I highly recommend this app for everyone of all ages.

Triple Threat (2019)
Triple Threat (2019)
2019 | Action, Thriller
Triple Threat, from prolific action specialist Jesse V. Johnson and currently streaming on Netflix, is exactly as promised – 95 minutes of complete ass-kicking from a ridiculous cast of ass-kickers who defy gravitational and physical logic with their supreme martial arts and combat skills. Unpretentious, unrelenting, and wildly entertaining, this is a throwback to old-school, non-CGI, action-programmers where the body count is absurdly high, the squibs are going off like crazy, and dynamic second unit work pumps up the aesthetic thrills – it’s the best pure-action film of the year and the best of its type that I’ve seen since The Night Comes For Us (also on Netflix streaming).

Starring an action fan’s dream team of Iko Uwais, Scott Adkins, Michael Jai White, Tony Jaa, and Tiger Chen. The various beat-downs that these guys dish out look beyond lethal. I loved the real-deal explosions and Jonathan Hall’s slick and steady cinematography which highlighted the insane choreography. Matthew Lorentz’s crisp editing wastes not a moment of the basic but hard-charging script by Joey O’Bryan, Fangjin Song, and Paul Staheli. But let’s be honest, we’re not here to experience Shakespearean-level swaths of dialogue. Triple Threat exists as an outlet for extreme thrills and near-constant mayhem.

Death Note
Having never seen anything about Death Note gives me a special ability to actually rate the movie and not berate it because it didn't follow the comic books. Even the comic creator liked the take. I enjoyed most of the movie and glad they chose Netflix to air it. The ending quite surprised me, and movies these days pretty much are easy to figure out. Comic book fans clearly don't like It, But at least enjoyable to the rest of us.

Hmmm...
That's all I find myself saying. I've heard a lot of debate about the Netflix series & how it glorifies suicide. After reading the book, & not yet having watched the series, I don't see how one can say that. I found it just plain sad & heartbreaking. It is so easy to look past the signs of suicide. It's frightening to think about how many times this might really happen. Not necessarily in this dramatic a fashion but, how many times people take for granted having another chance or being afraid of what someone else thinks or might think about them.
