EVEREST is the first book in The Chronicles of Zara Fae series. In it, we meet Zara in her home, Everest, and learn how and why such a thing became necessary. Zara is an engineer and figures out that something is wrong with the dam. Unfortunately for her, she slips and bangs her head, which leads to consequences she never could have envisaged, including having visions or memories of a different life.

This is an incredibly fast-paced story, and there isn't a lot of world-building, so it goes by very quickly. Although I don't like angst just for the sake of it, Zara got her memories back incredibly clearly and just at the right time. It's a quick read, and the ending happened before I was ready for it. It's not entirely clear whether this is supposed to be a Young Adult, New Adult, or Adult story. Most of the writing seems geared for Young Adult, but then every so often, you get a scene that wouldn't be suitable.

I would have preferred a little more in the way of character-building, as well as world-building. The relationship between Zara and Raider goes from nothing to everything within the turn of a page. The premise of the story is a good one, but I would just like more to it.
