Hope the original is better than this!
I've never seen the original, so this film should really benefit from the fact that I have no preconceptions. Unfortunately it still fails to deliver anything other than an unsuspensful and boring 2 hours.
The plot idea is a fairly good one, at least until it descends into nonsense later on, but the problem is it's very badly executed. There's no tension, no scares. It's all very predictable and yawn inducing. Shame really as it has a decent cast, they're just not given anything good to work with.

A story that begins as revenge turns into so much more. An original story that takes a look at blood money and the difference between classes. If our blood was the money used to pay for everything. The poor bleed their lives away while the rich stay young for hundreds of years by consuming the blood coins of others.
I have to say I was skeptical but I loved this story. It was so original and the plot was something that kept you guessing until the very end.

While it adds a couple of elements from the book that the original film left out, it takes a few too many liberties when deviating from the source material in other areas. (1 more)
The setup of the film takes far too little time, leaves many questions unanswered, confuses the average viewer that hasn't read the book, and lacks the ability to keep you immersed.
