2024 remake of the (in)famous last-ever Brandon Lee film - he was accidentally killed during filming - which, I have to say, makes you wonder why they even bothered.
This is ploddingly slow, and missing just about any element that made the original what it was.
Avoid.

Really really enjoyable film
As much as a star wars fan i am, as much as i really enjoyed the film, its still missing something. As much as it is like Empire Strikes Back it still offers more. The new characters are starting to move the film away from the original cast and will eventually take over from them, but they all still have alot to learn.
Long story short, great to watch, still alot like Empire Strikes and the new films are going in the right direction ????

Erika (17789 KP) rated Macbeth in Books

I was psyched when I read that Jo Nesbo was doing a take on Macbeth for Hogarth. After reading this, I feel a little ambivalent. Normally, I love everything he writes, but this one was extremely slow. I think that a lot of my neither here nor there feeling has to do with the original source material, rather than Nesbo's take on it.
The setting of the 1970s really worked, and I did really like the characterization of Macbeth. I was glad that it was relatively true to the original play to the end.
I received an ARC from Penguin's First to Read in exchange for an unbiased review.

For me, this version is an improvement to the original. It tries to help you learn the game rather than fight you as the FFG version seemed to do at times. If you already have the FFG version, you can purchase an upgrade kit that has all of the new cards in a nice tin for about $30, and then download the new version of the rules from the Ares Games website, that might be enough for you.

Original Vampire Film
A very cool, unique and classy vampire film. It's 9 years from now and nearly everyone is a vampire. However with not so many humans around producing blood the vampires are starving and becoming more like mindless bat-like creatures. Is there a way to save both vampires and humans?
I really like the ideas behind the vampire world and how life and technology has adapted to their needs. A good cast, slick visual effects, some bloody scenes and a pretty good story that is more original than most, move this towards the top of the food-chain for Vampire films!

A Fairly Awesome Mix
Marvel sequel has everything you liked from the original (probably), except the strength of the script (original writer did not come back and director James Gunn, not noted for his iron grip on narrative, did it himself).
Lots of good jokes and set pieces ensue, but one quickly loses track of exactly where the film thinks it's going - the middle section meanders about like crazy. Tries to strike a more serious note at the end; winds up just coming across as a bit sentimental. Lots to niggle about, but also a great deal to enjoy - hopefully they'll make Gunn use a co-writer on Volume 3.

The Fix for Coup
If you wanted to play Coup with more people, this is for you.
Reformation is a necessary expansion for an already great game. It replaces the Ambassador class, which was the only broken class in the original expansion. It also adds teams, which can be changed on the fly, and add a completely new dynamic to the game.
If it was more money, I would say that this expansion doesn't change enough to be worth it. But for around $10, it is completely worth fixing some of the problems from the original games.

This Netflix "teen drama" original isn't so original. It's basically a modern day "Fatal Attraction" (showing my age? Lol) with high schoolers. It wasn't too bad, though. The acting was decent enough and the cinematography is on par with many modern movies. Nothing too graphic in this but has some mild sexual content and violence. I found myself asking the same question I always do with movies like this.... Why aren't the characters a little more honest and a little smarter? Lol. Guess it wouldn't be very dramatic and definitely wouldn't last long enough to be a movie. Overall I'd say it's worth a watch if you can't find much else.

Good yet unnecessary adaptation of the classic animated film.
The movie did a good job of capturing the essence of the original animated film. Cast and set were able to recreate much of the fun and adventure of the original, a feat Disney is often able to do. Where the film suffers is in its foray into modern social movements seemingly for no reason, and the absence of two key voices, Gilbert Gottfried and the incomparable Robin Williams. Will Smith and Alan Tudyk are sufficient but don't come close to the former iconic role players. Overall, the film was good, yet in the grand scheme of things seemed unnecessary.
