Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Planet Earth - Season 1 in TV
Jun 12, 2017
Planet Earth also uses flawless time-lapse photography to show climate and seasonal changes -- like a sandstorm in the Sahara Desert or the transformation of parched desert land in Africa into a lush feeding ground for species of all shapes and sizes.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated The Big Sick (2017) in Movies
Jun 13, 2017
That authenticity is what makes the film so enchanting. That’s what Showalter is so good at presenting. His films – even in their overt quirkiness – never come across as anything but sincere. He doesn’t appear in The Big Sick. Nor did he write it.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) in Movies
Jun 15, 2017
On its own, Marquand’s film is a lesser film than its two direct prequels. However, it naturally benefits from the effect of “sequel continuity” – the idea that a sequel requires less focus on story building and character development...

BookCritics (259 KP) rated The Child in Books
Jun 16, 2017
Barton's writing was very easy to read and encouraged me to read on to find out what happened in the story. The authenticity of the relationship between Jude, Emma and Will was shocking but I appreciated the honesty.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated The Little Hours (2017) in Movies
Jun 16, 2017
Dave Franco is similarly good as the horny manservant who, against his better judgment, is easily seduced, while Reilly is funny as the constantly drunk priest, who’s got his own thing going on with the kindly mother superior

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated The Bad Batch (2016) in Movies
Jun 19, 2017
As a whole, Amirpour has a lot to be proud of with The Bad Batch. Her work is bold, unflinching, and often challenging, and I would expect nothing less from her as a filmmaker.

Movie Critics (823 KP) rated La Dolce Vita (1960) in Movies
Jun 20, 2017
in 1960 it broke artistic and cultural barriers. Once, Marcello had ambitions to be an intellectual and a writer. By the end, having moved into the sycophantic nest bed of public relations, he has sold what remains of his soul.

BookCritics (259 KP) rated Dear Aaron in Books
Jun 20, 2017
Another slow read by M.Z. This one didn’t hit me as emotionally as her previous books as the main characters seemed to me more immature that their supposed ages especially with the back and forth talk and all the internal dialogue.

BookCritics (259 KP) rated The Unlikelies in Books

I loved the friendships that were formed during the course of the book, and yes, the romance too. And I absolutely adored the romance. But the focus was definitely more on the platonic friendships, which I appreciated.

BookCritics (259 KP) rated The Intuitives in Books

I could not put this book down once I started. Work commitments prevented me from getting much reading done, but once I finally got to it, I read the almost whole thing in a day!
