Entertainment Editor (1988 KP) rated Tales From The Backseat by The Academic in Music
Feb 13, 2018
A solid debut packed with indie rock thrills...
The debut album from Irish four-piece The Academic is brimming with energy and potential. The band, singer Craig Fitzgerald, drummer Dean Gavin, and brothers Matt and Stephen Murtagh, guitar and bass respectively, have been building up a following across the Irish Sea since forming as teenagers in 2013.

Andy K (10823 KP) rated Drag Me to Hell (2009) in Movies
Jun 18, 2018
Original, gruesome and fun!
Director Sam Raimi returns to his horror roots with this awesome flick about a female bank loan officer who has to show some backbone to get promoted and pisses off the wrong old lady.
Without saying too much, you will never predict where the film goes and the unusual circumstances the protagonist heroine finds herself in.
I was skeptical, but this movie rocks.
Please check it out.!

Booksnthreads (19 KP) rated Doctor Who: Time Lord Fairy Tales in Books
Jun 5, 2018
I love fairy tales, and I love Doctor Who, so this book was absolutely perfect. It's also a wonderful combination of retold familiar tales and original stories that are in the vein of fairy tales.
I found it fun that in most stories, I could clearly identify which Doctor was appearing in that story. I also appreciated that he is often not the main character.
It was so much fun to read that it was over far too quickly.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Armada in Books

This was a solid second novel from Ernie Cline. Of course, the concept was not new, it definitely took from Ender's Game, Flight of the Navigator, etc, but the book wasn't pretending to be an original concept. A video game training the mass population in case of an alien invasion was the storyline.
The only thing I didn't like was the ending... regarding the 'aliens' reasoning for attacking. It was a nice, easy, and quick read.

A Netflix original starring Michael Pena and Lizzy Caplan. This movie was excellent. The cinematography, the acting, the special effects. All great. The story unfolds fairly quickly with a really fascinating twist to it that really catches you off guard. This sci-fi action thriller is intense. There's violence but this movie is ok for kids too. I highly, HIGHLY recommend it! Even if you're not a huge fan of sci-fi, you can appreciate and enjoy this film.

Teen Titans Go! To The Movies (2018) slaaaaaaaays. #Review
As a fan of the original Teen Titans animated series, I was deeply sceptical of “Teen Titans Go!” when it first aired. Silly, childish and cutesy, it seemed like Cartoon Network trashing something that had been great. Slowly, though, and thanks to the Cragglings embracing it, I began to enjoy it, especially as it revealed its anarchic, subversively irreverent take on the DC universe...

Dork_knight74 (881 KP) rated The Fundamentals of Caring (2016) in Movies
Aug 13, 2018
This Netflix original turned out way better than I initially thought it would be. The description doesn't do it justice. The cast did great and the film work was very good. The story moved along at a decent pace and it was full of humor and emotion. Warning - this movie might yank a few tears out of you. Especially if you're a parent. Good for the whole family, though. I highly recommend it. Really worth a watch.

Halfway through the woods
If you are not familiar with the stage show, but with fairy tales then you will love it. If you know the end of the original musical then you will be saying WTF more than once. With a talented cast and a great selection of songs, it's highly entertaining movie. Don't walk in thinking you know what's up though, since disney changed the end to save their already established characters

Tina (8 KP) rated Deathnote (2017) in Movies
Aug 28, 2018 (Updated Aug 28, 2018)
Deathnote, a Netflix original. I would recommend however it was not what I had expected. I wanted the demon to be more scary and the ending was anticlimactic. Was not pleased with that. I liked the dark humor in it and the slight plot twist in the end. There wasn't much gore at all and that was disappointing to me. But if you're looking to get into the horror scene this is a great starter film!

Kathy Casteel-Bain (7 KP) rated The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein in Books

A Wonderful Reimagining
questions readers may have had from the original work. Elizabeth is a dark, yet delightful character who literally "takes care of Victor" to the very end.
We get to meet the monster on a more personal level and information is tied up quite neatly through the existence of two journals. But, no more information shall I reveal lol. Jump in and read for yourself this story of teens true meaning of freedom
