As a mum, this film is pretty cool.
It shows a real side to parenting but found some of it was quite fantasical.
Awesome, but it would only happen in wildest of dreams!!

"I love Mr. King's work, and this is not just a great horror/sci-fi story, it's about the price people pay for being different, and about bullying, and parenting. As relevant as ever."

"Miller’s new novel “Circe,” is in the best tradition of ancient-historical fiction—a worthy heir to Mary Renault. It's a fabulous novelistic response to “The Odyssey,” and a timely book about power, abuse, parenting and home."

Made me call me father
Long story short it's the world shittiest father-son vacation to fufill dead mommy's highly inconvenient dying wish. Where fathers a prick and the sons heading that way too. Sounds like fun.

This is a PARENTING book. If you don't want to read about that, you won't likely enjoy this book. However, if that's what you are looking for, like I was, hopefully you'll find is as fun and useful as I did.

There are some great ideas to have a close, happy, and relatively peaceful family life. They gave me plenty of things to try in the future. I enjoyed that each chapter had a question to prompt you to actively think about parenting and your life. I will be recommending this to others as well as buying a physical copy for those times I forget what I want to try. :-)

"Kramer vs. Kramer is one of my favorite films, where you have a story that really juxtaposes a lot of ideas that we have about family, and about parenting. Again, an incredibly simple plot that allows for really rich exploration of character, and one of the best screenplays I’ve ever read."

This WILL be on my books of the year list. It’s raw, moving, and reminded me of the slog of parenting babies and small children. And I was/ am one of the weirdos that enjoyed it. My mantra during that “4th trimester” with 2 premature babies (2 1/2 years apart) was “This will pass, I’ll look back on this as a memory”, though. It was tough. And my eldest son is disabled, so we had that (the disability!) to work with, too.

I think that’s what this book grasped so well - the sheer overwhelm of new parenting. It is like sleep-deprived drowning. I was very lucky to have an extremely useful/ thoughtful co-parent, unlike Soldier, who was left largely on her own to negotiate parenting a baby and later, a toddler. And I have very low housework expectations (still. Should I admit that?!).

The last 40 or so pages contains some of the best writing I’ve read in a while. I had to shut myself away to read it, while I sobbed and tried to carry on reading through my tears.

Utterly beautiful, and I urge you to read it.

Finally finished! Took me 8 months to read it, but was so worth the read. The reason it took me a long time was all the processing through the valuable information this book presented. Yes, it's a parenting book, since I am not a parent, I initially started reading it with my sister in law Kris and sister Carri for the soul purpose of learning to build healthier relationships with the people in my life.
The last chapter a new door opened up for me, a chance to help a 12 year old girl and the last chapter gave me some relevant reading material and journaling opportunities for me to work with her and myself. It's amazing how God does that. I recommend this book to anyone who wishes to learn about how our brains develop in children, ourselves, and how we relate to each other. AWESOME! is all I have to say about "Parenting From The Inside Out" By Daniel J Siegel and Mary Hartzell.
