I enjoyed this a lot!

The main character, Eleanor, is stuck in a rut, so she decides to do one wild thing every month for a year. Something that pushes her out of her comfort zone. When one of her best friends splits up with his girlfriend, El and two other of their friends decide to buy their house together - a kind of ‘Queer Commune’. A commune because there’s four of them living there as equal partners in the ownership. And it’s a decent commute time outside of London.

Only El has a huge crush on one of her housemates, Ray. And she’s had an unrequited crush on her for quite a while.

I love Laura Kay’s writing. Yes, it’s a romance, but it’s not teeth-clenchingly sweet, and El’s personal growth is as central to the story as the romance itself.
Jamie is fabulous, Will is the sensible one - all great characters and people you’d love to know and be friends with.

I’m definitely becoming a firm Laura Kay fan!

If you enjoy History or Historical fiction. Secret of Cavendon may be one of the books to pick up. It is book #4 in the series, I think you read it as a standalone if you want to. The plot bring out quite a few romances. One may be dangerous.

We see who the woman of Cavendon are and work together. We seem to learn more about history of the Swanns and Ingram's life. Well as we know we have Alicia, Cecily and Miles and their children. Get action and adventures. We also meet Cecily friends and or business partners.

There change coming and will they be able to stick together though it all? There a murder, heartbreak, drama. Bradford does it all in one book. There seems to be several story lines going on though out he book. They all seem to be teeming from Cavendon. What are secrets of Cavendon that seem to be everyone is worried about. It seems that is in record books.

If you are into British history or want learn a little bit about Britain and London this book is set in that area. You got Earls and Countess in this book.

L.A. Requiem (Elvis Cole, #8)

Elvis Cole and Joe Pike are asked to find Karen Garcia, a former girlfriend of Pike’s. Her father is concerned, but the police aren’t taking him seriously. Unfortunately, her body turns up, and Cole and Pike find themselves working the case. With Pike’s connection to the victim and interacting with his former co-workers in the LAPD, the partners find themselves in a tough situation. How will the events of the past influence the current investigation?

I’ve long complained that the main characters, especially Pike, felt too flat as characters. This book goes a long way to filling us in on Pike, although the result was a little cliché, which may just be a factor of the book’s age. The story was strong and kept moving forward quickly, although a few things go glossed over at the end, and Crais can’t help himself – he has to stick in a due ex machina. The love letter to LA at the end is beautifully written, especially for those of us who live here. Overall, a good book well worth reading.

Jaz's Warriors (Bondmates, #2)

This is the second book in a series which I haven't read, but that in no way diminished my enjoyment of this short but spicy Science Fiction read.

The story starts with the invasion of Earth, and then jumps forward to when Jaz is already a Matriarch, mated to two and meeting a potential third. Things are done very differently in this world, and some human females are having trouble adapting. Jaz's counselling experience is able to help her and others to cope with a way of living and loving.

Because I haven't read the first book, I'm not sure if Jaz is mentioned in that, or how she met husbands one and two. This isn't a negative, it's just that this is one fast-paced story so I would like to know more about these characters, just to understand all aspects of the story.

If you are after a short and steamy sci-fi romance with multi partners, then I can definitely recommend this one.

* I received this book from Barclay Publicity in return for a fair and honest review. *
