"Heavy tweeds, craven pot smoking, paranoia, and Wellingtons, set in the mucky English countryside. It established my Anglophilia at age fifteen; I memorized Hamlet’s soliloquy by multiple rewindings of the final scene; and I still have a major crush on Paul McGann."

Good but not brilliant
While its still doctor who, as a fan myself i think the fact it is ouerly set in america is quite a let down and the fact that overall paul mcgann was techipnically the longest running doctor but has barely had 3 hours pf actual screen time is the biggest let down, the stpey isnt all that amazing but for doctor who fans it is a mist see. Will

Just as good the 2nd time around, this forms the first part of 2. Difficult to review them separately, other than to say Nick Briggs has managed to pick up these little threads from so many other Doctor Who tales over the years and weave them together into a stunning story. Paul McGann and Sheridan Smith crush it (as usual)... and then you get to that cliffhanger...

"London. The swinging ’60s. But not for these broke actors, who have just left drama school. To break the monotony of the phone never ringing, they make the fatal error of leaving London for “a charming weekend in the country.” Gay uncles, disgruntled farmers, terrifying poachers, and lots and lots and lots of alcohol ensue. Hang on for the ride. Richard E. Grant has never been better. Paul McGann plays it straight and anchors the whole thing. The soundtrack is wonderful. Must watch with alcohol."

"Let’s start with Withnail and I. That’s gotta be pretty much up there. I adore that film. I can quote it at great length. Many of my great friends love it, too. It’s a film about two overindulging actors who go on holiday by mistake. What’s not to like? It’s wonderful. There’s so much I would like to say about that film. It’s this sort of beautiful eulogy, really, but a very, very funny one. It’s probably got as many quotable lines in it as any film, really. Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann just… I don’t know. I adore it. That’s the problem with a film you love so much, is I don’t know really what to say about it. I completely love it."
