Gripping
Sully was more than I expected. It superceded normal disaster movie/plane crash territory and took a narrative built on the personal story of Sully, the Captain of the plane.
This film viewed the crash from various perspectives and as a viewer you build an understanding of what happened and why. The experience of Sully himself and the first officer as their decision making and performance was investigated was rather brutal and made fascinating watching.
Tom Hanks played a believable character, controlled on the outside, doubting on the inside. Great performance.

A slightly fantastical but nevertheless enjoyable story about Doug Parker, a man whose older wife passes away unexpectedly in a plane crash. The novel chronicles Doug coming to terms with his grief, including dealing with his troubled teenage stepson and his equally troubled twin sister, Claire. The plot is a bit much at times, but it's still a rather honest and quick read.

Meh. Overlong, unneeded travelogue with the Doctor and Donna globetrotting all over the Earth... WITHOUT the TARDIS. Flying commercial airliners, just to have a plane crash scene, commuting by rail just to have a train crash scene. The main plot about evil aliens hiding within social media and feeding off negative emotions of posters (i.e. Nerd Rage) is topical, but doesn't fit Doctor Who. Not a particularly well told tale either, when I finally got to the climax it was more of a relief than a satisfactory ending. Was not impressed with this one at all.

This series is one that I always come back to. It is like meeting old friends. I have watched Stirling create this world since the original plane crash and now I am entranced by the adventures of the grandchildren of the original characters. The story keeps evolving. Although sometimes it gets a bit too supernatural for me the story and the characters keep me hooked!

Average Action Film
Rather low budget action film, following the typical Die Hard style plot. A pilot teams up with a Prisoner on escort after the Plane crash lands in dangerous territory.
Some good shoot out action later on but a rather slow build up. The 2 male leads make this watchable though but something you'll be in a rush to book a ticket for.

Good movie
Washington plays a complex, flawed, and conflicted pilot whose long-hidden demons are unearthed after his plane comes crashing to earth. Is he a hero or is he to blame for what happened? That's what the NTSB, the media, and the public want to know and they're determined to leave no stone unturned in their search for answers.

An unexpectedly good read
There is a lot more to this book than it simply being the plane crash suspense thriller the description makes it out to be. Noah Hawley writes for tv, and reading Before the Fall you can really see this coming across - this would make a great tv show and much better than any other similar shows (Lost anyone?).
This is a simple premise - a plane crash with only 2 survivors - but it’s very well written and works brilliantly. It switches between the viewpoint of the survivors and the deceased prior to the crash, and this is a really good dynamic. The characters are all interesting and developed as well as they can be, all with their own flaws. There’s a lot more to this than just a basic thriller, and it delves into coincidence, the crash investigation and the media intrusion with such detail that all of this paired with the character stories really got me hooked.
My only criticism of this book would be the ending. Hundreds of pages build up to this massive ending but it winds up just being a bit of an anticlimax. It’s not a bad ending, not in the slightest, it just feels a little lacking and that it could’ve been so much more.
Despite that, this is still a fantastic and very well written book. Definitely the best I’ve read so far of Noah Hawley’s.
