The sequel to A Princess of Mars, The Gods of Mars again is presented as Edgar Rice Burroughs retelling the story of a relation of his. Again, this novel starts on Earth before moving to Mars proper and fleshing out the world first shown in the earlier book.

It is also, quite clearly, a product of it's time both in it's vision of Barsoom (or Mars), and in the culture of the various races upon (and underneath) the planet, and also ends - rather abruptly, I felt - in a cliffhanger of an ending.

The fourth of Edgar Rice Burrough's Barsoom series that began with A Princess of Mars, this is actually the first book in the series that does not centre on the main protaganist of the first three novels (John Carter), as well as being the first story to be told in the third rather than first person.

As a consequence, I actually found this particular one to be a bit of a let-down from the previous, even if it does follow the same plot arc of those earlier stories (right down to yet another mysterious undiscovered race!).

The parts with Fred Savage were delightful. (2 more)

I was able to take my daughter to see it.

Not boring

Nice Surprise

I went into the movie "blind", never having seen neither Deadpool movie. I had only seen the previews for them. My daughter has wanted to see both and this provided the perfect opportunity for that to happen. For me I love the Princess Bride so I very much enjoyed the Fred Savage parts. Watching this just made me want to watch the unaltered movies.
I agree it could have been a direct to DVD release, but what fun would that be?
