"The Prodigy are one of the main reasons we make music and this tune really was a groundbreaking classic."

"Read while directing Anne in Canada. A book that begins with two spirited sisters and a forward-thinking mother in a Mennonite community was always going to be irresistible to me. That it also encompasses musical prodigy, the prospect of assisted suicide, and the forthright, self-deprecation of its flawed and funny lead character made it even more so."

"I had an older friend who was hugely into dance music. He was a proper teenager with decks. That was all cool to us. The Prodigy were absolutely the band of the moment, we would just listen to them so much. You always feel like you're listening to a real drummer with The Prodigy, even though you're not and you're listening to highly processed drums, they always retain a sense of reality. To this day, The Prodigy have a sense of rawness and aggression and reality, and they have always felt like a real band to me, even though it's just a guy with a laptop and a couple of idiots jumping around. They made the world shift for me, and made me feel like I didn't have to choose between a PC and Nirvana, and that's liberating, knowing I could do anything I want. The music I have in this Baker's Dozen is influential, because the albums are all about breaking rules, or don't fit into camps, and that's where my band has always been. People don't really know what to call us or describe us, and that has come from having diverse influences. The best bands don't fit."

Laurel Davis Huber's debut historical fiction novel investigates Margery Williams Bianco, the author of the world-famous children's book, The Velveteen Rabbit, and her child prodigy artist daughter, Pamela Bianco. Huber gives us us a portrait of two lives, their relationship with each other and the problems they faced, both together and as individual talented women. Chello there!
I love stumbling on little treats like this. Had heard nothing about, hadn't seen the trailer, read the blurb and thought why not - and I'm glad I did. Story starts with a former chello child prodigy who had given up chances of fame etc to take care of her sick mother. When her mother dies she returns to her old life and meets her schools new prodigy and the quickly form a friendship and decide to go on a trip together. What follows is a cracking story of love, betrayal, abuse, jealousy & revenge done really really well with some good gore and plenty of twists. The only down I had was the very last scene so it left me with a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Without giving too much away the scene itself is really good but I thought 'oh my God that's cool, that's even cooler - but wait - why wud they do that?'. But apart from that its amazingly good and totally worth a watch!

"A true diva and genius, of course. This is one the best autobiographies I've ever read, recounting Simone’s upbringing in North Carolina in a non-segregated community; her schooling as a child prodigy by a Russian grand dame piano teacher; playing rough bars in evening dress and telling the winos to shut up or she wouldn't play (and they did!); to the absolute shock when she didn't get into Juilliard because of her color. By the time she's describing writing “Mississippi Goddam,” all my hairs were standing on end! A powerful woman, powerful activist, and amazing musician."

Check.... Mate
Thought I'd check this out, pun intended. Heard very good things about this, everyone seems to be watching this. I was a bit dubious how a short series about a Chess prodigy would make interesting viewing. I happen to like Chess as well.
The story follows Beth a young girl sent to an orphanage and discovers a natural ability for Chess and an addiction.
The show is very stylish, with the 60's fashion, Cars and Music. Anya Taylor-Joy has a look that just grabs your attention with her striking red hair. It's interesting, especially if you do play yourself, although it does progress as you would expect.
You'll breeze through it in no time.

Choose or Die has a decent premise, and some good ideas, but it suffers from a sloppy execution that results in a forgettable horror that fails to excite. After an intriguing opening scene and a first act that sets up proceedings well enough, the narrative falls off the rails a bit. It kind of explains why all this bad shit is happening but simultaneously peaces out with a conclusion that doesn't make sense or even matters to be honest. It's like the movie gets bored of itself around the halfway point. The only real saving grace is the disorientating as fuck soundtrack from Liam Howlett (The Prodigy), but otherwise, Choose or Die kind of gives it a go, but is ultimately a flaccid disappointment.
