I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
As someone who is interested in psychology, sociology, and sexology I found this book truly fascinating. I loved how detailed this book was and that Shira Tarrant cited her sources. When reading a psychology book I always want the sources because that just gives me more and more things to research and look into.
I felt that Shira Tarrant did a good job at remaining unbiased in this book. You can tell that she has certain opinions but it didn't feel like an opinion piece which is refreshing especially on such a taboo topic. The research was interesting and well done. You can really tell that the author took their time in writing the book and researching the topic.
I learned quite a lot about the pornography industry. If you're interested in learning something new, I highly recommend this book!

The stories are interesting, but the author's tendency to put herself into the text was off-putting and an annoyance. I found her pretentious and didn't appreciate how she seemed to think herself an expert in psychology. I'm not saying she might not be correct in certain cases, but the way she presented her "diagnoses" made it sound like those were the concrete conclusions. I have my doubts. Very dated and uninspired, with, surprisingly, many typos.

I'll start by saying I hold a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology, so when I was approached to read and review this book, I jumped at it. Schizophrenia was one of the many different topics throughout my coursework, and I'm always eager to learn more about anything Psychology-related. I thought back on my different classes, and while we discussed all sorts of things about Schizophrenia (symptoms, effects on the individual and family/friends, therapeutic treatment, drug treatment, etc.), I don't recall having ever read an anecdotal account from someone with the illness, and I think it's just a fantastic idea.
While this book is very long, it's well worth the read if you're either like me and are interested in Psychology, or if you either have or know someone who has Schizophrenia (Sz for short). Reading this book gave me all sorts of personal insight into the illness that you just can't find in a textbook, and I'm sure it would greatly benefit anyone who is affected in their life by Sz in some way. I found the opening philosophies on God to be very interesting, as it was a new way of looking at the topic for me, and it really drew me in to see what all Eugene believed, had been through, is going through, etc. The various quotes from song lyrics, psychologists, other Sz memoirs, and numerous other sources really worked to convey just what Eugene was thinking and feeling, especially the ones pulled from his earlier writings.
As I said, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has Sz in some form of their life: either themselves, a family member or friend, therapists, social workers, etc, as well as those who are studying or just interested in Psychology. First-hand accounts are few and far between, and I feel I learned more about Sz, its effects on the mind as well as the idea of "remission," from this book than I did throughout my coursework.

Fascinating
A great all round series as a couple of FBI agents interview violent offenders around the US to try and understand their psyche.
If you like crime dramas, or programmes that look at the psychology of serial killers you'll enjoy this. The acting is very good and it feels well made all round. Some of the later episodes seem to go a little off track from the start. But overall it's a very good series on an interesting subject.

I have never really been into science fiction novels, steering more toward fantasy. Enders game was probably the first science fiction book I've read and I was so impressed. The idea of video gamers being chosen for war is brilliant and the development of all the characters is very intriguing. The psychology used on the kids is fascinating, brutal and so effective its scary. Loved delving into this novel and hope one day theres a film that is actual worth it.

This collection of poetry is magical! I was lucky enough to win it through a Goodreads Giveaway, Thank YOU soo much!! My two loves are literature and psychology and the author has weaved the two through her life and through her words. I cannot recommend this collection enough!! I cannot wait to get my hands on the other volumes!!! Our life tends to give us our best work as poets and that's just what this amazing lady as done. Thank you for sharing your work with us!
I absolutely loved Kerry Daynes’s first book, so when I was given the chance by NetGalley to read and review this book I knew that I was in for a treat.
Kerry Daynes gives us an insight into the world of forensic psychology and the different settings that she has worked in, from hospitals to her own private practice to a mother-and-baby unit. Her job is so varied and she talks about a wide range of characters that she has met throughout her career.
Kerry Daynes doesn’t pretend to be a robot and is the first to admit that sometimes her prejudice or feelings do appear during sessions with some of her patients. She says the most important thing is to realise this and to try to put them to one side at that moment in time. I have always been interested in psychology and it is the career I want to go into in the near future, and this book has ignited that passion even further but also put some of my doubts to bed.
I really did enjoy this book, and while I know that statistics and studies are important to back up facts in the book, I did feel that at some points the references and statistics were a bit too heavy, especially if you are not someone who likes to go away and read up on them afterwards. While they didn’t bother me too much, I did sometimes find I was skimming over them a little, so I wonder what people who don’t have any experience of psychology would think of these parts.
Overall, I really did enjoy the book and I enjoyed reading about the patients that Kerry Daynes included and felt satisfied when we found out what happened to them afterwards.

For such a short book this was pleasant to listen to - I saw the movie ages ago and I honestly remembered nothing of the end of this book - I didn't realize it was a series either - kind of makes me want to read the rest. The psychology around this character and the whole book was epic and Norman is kind of a villain you love in a way - or at least for me - it also kind of makes me want to watch the movie again. A must read I'd say if you've seen movie.
When I saw this on a library shelf I felt a warmth sensation filling me up inside.
I have, since the very first read of the The millennium Trilogy, been continuously involved in learning further about the books, the characters and of course, Steig himself.
However, when it came to reading this book it seemed to pinpoint on a section and then repeating its meaning with large words that over-powered one another.
I love psychology and I love the trilogy and anything belonging to this.
However, I didn't find it as fascinating as I hoped to have had.
