Took awhile to complete....
Another great Stephen King classic that I've finally read. I expected more Randall Flagg and more dark side than small town politics, but loved the ending of the novel Vs the old TV mini series... it's an old novel but I still wont spoil it... lol

Swim for it
A master diver/rescuer for the coast guard Ben Randall (Costner) has an accident at sea and is asked to teach A school cadets (Coast Guard enlistees) the right and wrong ways to save someone and survival skills. A cadet Jake Fischer (Kutcher) has a troubled past from a small town and is a world class swim champ is arrogant and is put to the test by Randall. Will he have to swim for it or be a fish out of water.
A good look into the way Coast Guard divers/rescuers are trained and what they have to endure. The story line is pretty good and the movie dosen't have a dull moment

The only performer to appear in three of the AFI's Hundred Greatest Films of All Time is Janet Leigh, which is quite an achievement, but she also turns up in a load of absolute dross, like this borderline-unwatchable musical comedy adventure about a family spending a month in an underwater house. Tony Randall is there for the older viewers; there are some swinging kids for the younger audience (a young Richard Dreyfuss keeps singing songs about goldfish); low-octane underwater thrills are occasionally attempted.
The list of people involved in this movie might lead one to expect something at least mildly interesting: Jack Arnold made many interesting SF B-movies, one of which (Creature from the Black Lagoon) featured co-director Browning in the title role; the cast list includes Randall, Leigh, Dreyfuss, and Roddy McDowell. And yet it feels almost aggressively anodyne and bland, horribly calculated, and made to TV-standard production values. Even when it was made this probably only appealed to the most undemanding viewers; nowadays it exerts a weird fascination if only as a relic of an unrecognisable sensibility.

First time I've seen this movie and I liked it as a fan of Kevin Smith movies and Silent Bob I finally decided to watch the first one cause next month clerks 3 is being released at all good cinemas. Anyway the movie as its shot in black and white which I didn't mind this movies about Dante and Randall both working on their day off and there interactions with the customers not forgetting Jay and silent Bob such brilliant characters. Some of the language can be offensive but it's what makes this a classic. Now for clerks 2

What's the worst thing you have ever done?
The worse thing Randall Haight has ever done was killing a 14-year-old girl when he was only a child himself. Now someone seems to have discovered his secret and is tormenting him anonymously, and, to further complicate things a 14-year-old girl has gone missing in the same town that Randall lives in.
Charlie Parker takes on the case against his better judgement as it brings back painful memories of the death of his own daughter and he also finds himself up against a mobster by the name of Tommy Morris, the FBI and a police chief who may have secrets of his own.
As a rule I generally navigate towards horror but in the Charlie Parker series John Connolly has crafted a multi-layered world that mixes in supernatural elements and a superb supporting cast (Louis, Angel, the Collector) as well as great writing, a flawed (but likeable) main character and most importantly stories that draw me in totally. In fact I would put John Connolly up there with Stephen King as one of my favourite authors and I absolutely cannot get enough of the Charlie Parker series. If you have a love for the crime or horror genres there is no excuse for not diving into this series.
The next book in the series is The Wrath of Angels and it marks the return of the Collecter and promises to bring back the more supernatural/horror elements of the series and that is certainly not a bad thing.
