Extremely brave account of weight and trauma
Roxane Gay's deeply moving, hard-hitting biographical account of rape and its consequences is harrowing and triggering. The profound impact it had on her life goes to explain all her decision making as a result. Not to explain away her feelings of her weight, but it shows a small tenet of how trauma can have such devastating results. It can be a little repetitive from a literary perspective but it's well worth all the kudos.

An intense crime drama as a NY cop sinks into increasing levels of despair. This has a great performance from Keitel and the whole films seem a character study of the Bad lieutenant. The film though goes from one scene to the next of him mainly taking drugs, drinking, stealing drugs from crimes scenes and going to prostitutes. We never know how or why he got like this? Then working on a brutal rape case of a nun he seeks redemption.

Shockingly good
I watched Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri after watching it receive a couple of awards. I was not disappointed.

This movie covers some hard topics - the pain a family goes through after the rape and murder of the daughter, the fact that the crime is unsolved, small-town interpersonal relationships, cancer, suicide, but still has the perfect script to make it a dark comedy. The actors all did fantastic jobs. I highly recommend this movie.

Thelma & Louise (1991)
Thelma & Louise (1991)
1991 | Comedy
Director Ridley Scott's classic 1991 road trip movie starring Geena David and Susan Sarandon (with Brad Pitt and Harvey Keitel also having a part), in which the two friends Thelma (Davis) and Louise (Sarandon) go on a road trip that takes a turn for the worse when Louise shoots and kills a man attempting to rape Thelma.

Finding themselves on the run, they try to make their way to Mexico, culminating in perhaps one of the most famous final shots in movie history.
