This story was so sad, but it made me more angry than anything. Just the thought of what happened all those years ago, the devastation and horror, honestly gets my blood boiling. As depressing as this it was, for Sarah and Julia, I didn't cry, which was what I wanted, but I was still moved. The ending felt lackluster, yet it was real, raw, so any other ending wouldn't have fit.

A truly great read. The books devels into a very raw topic, that seriously divides people and shows both sides of the arguement, the thoughts of those pro choice and those pro life, while at the same time telling a wonderful and moving story that really engages the reader. I couldn't put this down

Gibson's poems hit you right in the heart. They're raw, blunt, unyielding in their insight of violence, love, loss, gender, sexuality, and so much more. Some of my favorites include: Ode to the Panic Attack and America Wakes Me In the Middle of the Night. Both spoke to my own anxieties and I felt those two pieces of poetry really spoke to everyone at some point in their lives.

"When you inevitably are asked about your favourite record, you can scratch your head and go through a list, because your taste changes from year-to-year or through different periods of your life. However, I have always been able to say that Raw Power is my favourite from the moment I first heard it, and I don't think it has been equalled since. A couple of friends recommended it to me. At the age of 14, I was starting to play guitar in a certain way and the name [of Stooges' guitarist] James Williamson kept cropping up. A couple of guys I knew assumed I had been listening to Raw Power because of the way I was playing riffs. So I thought I had better investigate. I knew all about Iggy and The Stooges but I wasn't aware of Raw Power. I got the album in about 1976. I had heard so much about it that eventually I want into town to buy it and I picked up a copy for about three quid, which was all I had. The cover alone made me want to buy the record, and, when I heard it, I realised why my mates had been saying what they had. In particular, the song 'Gimme Danger' started off with a riff that was very much like one I was playing with the band I was in at the time. As a guitarist, James Williamson's playing struck me as having the technique of Jimmy Page but with the irreverence and attitude of Keith Richards. I have since become friends with James and have talked to him about what he was doing back then. He knew exactly what he was doing and it was very deliberate, which is always quite impressive. There is a lot more I could say about Raw Power. It gave me a path to follow as a guitar player. It was an opening into a world of rock & roll, sleaze, sexuality, drugs, violence and danger. That's a hard combination to beat."

So many mixed reviews
I surround myself with mental health communities as I suffer myself and have seen so many mixed reviews for this show. But having had depression throughout my school years I think this was a raw and real problem with school kids these days. I think so much more awareness has come from this programme and it shows that things that could seem so small to others can have a huge impact on the people around us. I don't think it glorifies suicide as a lot of people have mentioned, it shows how real and how easily something can hurt somebody without anyone else knowing. The end episode, for me, was a huge trigger and I think a warning should have been put on that. I know that has changed for season 2 though.
I enjoyed watching this, it was hard to watch, raw and I went through so many emotions.

Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin

Track

"My Mum played me Janis Joplin for the first time one night when I was 14 or 15 and I was just ‘This is a woman?! Oh my god! What?! I didn’t know that a woman could sound like this!’ That was quite life changing and it totally changed my perception of what you had to be as a female singer. It was such a breath of fresh air, because I’d listened to so much pop and this was my first experience of a woman singing in a completely different way. It broke boundaries for me and it opened different doors, because I was suddenly ‘Oh, you don’t have to just be this one thing.’ “I guess that ‘Mercedes Benz’ was more of a ditty and it wasn’t the perfectly constructed song. I think it’s just really playful; music is really playful and singing can just be funny and downplayed, but this song is also raw, it’s so fucking raw and gritty."

Must See, Just Bring Your Tissues
Solid performances. Great father and daughter chemistry. A movie packed with comedy, and emotions. Illustrates raw truths and how to face your fears no matter how small or big. The title is fitting. It's funnier in Spanish, but the actors do a great job not to recuperate lost meanings in translation. Must see. Just be warned, it is a tear jerker. Bring your tissues.

I really enjoyed reading books by this author, this book is different from her other books but still as fantastic. this is a stand alone book about two damaged people trying to find a way to become whole. the relationship between the characters really brings the story alive. the author has a fantastic way of writing so the characters and story are raw and intense

"I first saw this film when I started seeking out movies directed by women. This one stood out. There’s something so believable about that lead character—she’s a teenager I can understand. I loved her anger and her passion, and I was touched by her relationship with her mother. And I find Michael Fassbender’s performance so creepy in the midst of all this mundaneness, which Andrea Arnold depicts in such a raw and powerful way."

Brilliant cop drama
A great buddy cop drama that has a real dramatic level of realism. It's largely the story of a pair of cops on duty in a tough part of L.A as seen through their bodycams, squad car dashboard and other cctv footage. The acting is spot on and the finale will have you on the edge of your seat. One of the best of it's genre I've seen in years!
