I hadn't heard of this film when my partner suggested watching it, I read about it and liked the idea but wasn't sure if I would enjoy it. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the humour which kept the film light hearted while still touching on some raw subjects. I enjoyed watching the characters develop and the relationships change throughout the film. There were some shocking moments but I enjoyed the film as a whole. The acting was outstanding from all involved, I couldn't fault it whatsoever. I'm really glad I watched thks film.

Due to my lack of participation in the dating world, my father decided to purchase this book for me to give me some pointers. Now THIS was hilarious!
Done in the style of the all popular 'LadyBird Book Of' series complete with the traditional artwork and a dash of British humour this is definitely one to pick up. It goes through what you should expect from dating in this day and age in a very honest manner, which is just perfect. It's in your face, it's raw and it's guaranteed to give you a giggle.

You see one drug addict movie, you've seen them all
I heard good things about this movie so when I had a chance to catch it from the beginning recently, I gave it a watch. I was thoroughly bored and unimpressed with most everything about this movie except for Leonardo DiCaprio's raw talent and acting and Ernie Hudson's character. Hudson was engaging, sympathetic and endearing. I hope addicts in real life have someone like him in their lives who helps them through their addiction.

I saw this movie many years ago, and I struggled to keep my attention while everyone else I was with continued to watch it. My fiance is a recovering addict and I can speak from personal experience that the right encouragement is key during recovery.

Great revenge action film
This is a very good revenge action film from the director of Saw, spot the Jigsaw face! The story as with a lot of these films is a bit over the top. Kevin Bacon starts as a calm mild mannered white collar worker who suddenly changes into a raw hate filled father after the death of his son. Pretty handy with a range of guns all of a sudden as well. Apart from that the film is great and has plenty of decent action scenes and some great performances from the two lead characters.

"It’s hard for me to pick one Cassavetes film, so I’m going to default to this great documentary about him, which is included in Criterion’s John Cassavetes: Five Films set. See them all, but see this first and get a sense of what he’s all about. There’s no more unique and important filmmaker in American history—his impact on independent film was massive, having arguably invented it in the States, and his films are honest in a way that Hollywood simply is not. Many imitate his loose style, but he's the master of the raw conversation. Although now that I’m getting into Bergman . . ."

"Fucking loved that record, man. I met Premier and Guru early, before the first album; they were still on Wild Pitch. I was down at their video for Word I Manifest, before Cypress came out, in like ‘89. That was a good time in New York man; I loved New York in the late eighties. It was incredible. The creativity and the culture of the city was so raw. That’s where a lot of subcultures came out of, that rawness. You didn’t see a lot of shit come out of Beverly Hills… there’s a reason for that."

Wow, even though I was told what to expect, I wasn't expecting anything as visceral and as raw as this book. The beginning though tough lulled me into a sense of security, I thought I knew where it was going to go - I didn't! There was a point in the middle where this became a bit of an issue, as I felt it moved around too much, but there was a reason to it. I'm not immediately going to move on to book two, not because I don't want to, but i feel I might have a nervous breakdown of I did!

"I've been listening to her for years, but I just watched a documentary about her – so much raw emotion! And free of so many complications that music has sometimes. The music is just very direct, simple and strong, free of filigree. She's direct to the heart. Her intimate collaboration with Portugal's poets is admirable. She definitely stuck by her rifles. And it's good to know that she was part of making the fado style. I first came across it, I would guess, 15 years ago. It has the same rawness as flamenco but it's less flamboyant, and more stern and stark somehow."

This has a runtime of only 12 minutes (including credits) but that was all it took for it to have an absolutely devastating emotional impact.

The animation is a simplistic style but this was all to its credit, as in each scene your eye was drawn specifically to the important details.
It made it feel so raw, and full of the emotions it was trying to illicit.

I wouldn't like to say too much, as I wouldn't want to colour any details of this powerful piece.
I hope that viewers will enjoy it for the beautiful work that it is.

The Hard Truth About Sunshine was a very raw, very real experience of how I couldn't even begin to imagine a wounded veteran feels like. Sure, I mentioned that Christopher was hard to like, but I never for a second forgot the trauma he was living with. Even still, I was thankful to watch his perspective on life change. Traveling with Christopher, Jillian, Conner, and Barb was enlightening. There were so many ups and downs, but the meaning behind the book is a lesson that's not just hard to learn, but impossible for some people to acknowledge.
