Lots of twists and turns
It was a train wreck that I just couldn't turn away from
This was a strange movie ... and apparently based on a true story - but I guess real life is the strangest of them all. Matt Damon plays a character bent on doing the right thing and turns his company in for unfair business practices. He's not a very smooth FBI informant but he gets the job done. But don't run to the kitchen for more snacks in the last 30 minutes or you will miss the twists and turns that actually make the movie worth watching. You won't find a lot of action in this movie but you will get a lot of plotting, deception, and worthwhile dialogue.

In the 9th installment of the Stepahnie Plum series Stephanie finds herself as the "prize" in a real-life game of murder. The players in this game are set up to hunt each other down by being given email clues from the Web Master an unknown person who directs the game & controls those who play it. Stephanie unknowingly thrusts herself into the game when she goes out to hunt down a guy who has bailed on his visa bond.
This book was much more suspensful than the last few in the series. There's lots of tasering, shooting, kidnapping, & bodyguarding. I figured out who the Web Master was with about 100 pages left to go...though I had my suspcisions earlier on. That didn't take away from the plot though.

This was a good read for sure! I think I've found a new author worthy of my reading time thanks to this Goodreads Giveaway win.
The reviews compare Dugoni to John Grisham. When I first saw that I wasn't too thrilled. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Grisham. He just isn't one of my favorite go-to authors, not 1 I always count on for an engrossing read. There are similarities in their styles...legal thrillers, lawyers as main characters, etc. But to me, Dugoni's action is more captivating. This book got me thinking, but it also wasn't too over my head with "legal speak." The characters are well written, believable with a mix of the incredible...just like real life.
I'm looking forward to reading more of Dugoni's work!

Good cinematography
Are you a Watcher or Player?
A cool, fun, sexy and visually slick thriller. I hadn't heard much about this before seeing it but found it very enjoyable. It's a new spin on the truth or dare game, this time with the Internet community choosing to be a Watcher or Player. People film themselves doing a few dares as watchers pay them to complete the dare. Soon though the dares escalate and become very dangerous.
I like the visual style of the film, bathed in neon light a lot of the time, which makes it feel more like a game. Also makes a slight point about how people behave online compared to real life. Overall not that original but still an entertaining film nevertheless.

I grew up watching this movie and even as a kid I always enjoyed it but as the older I got I really grew to understand that it is not just a horror movie in the sense that is deals with zombies, monsters, living dolls, and ghost but that it is a horror movie in the sense that it deals with real life horrors such as police brutality, abuse, racism, and gang violence all of which still hold extreme relevant 22 years after the movie was released.

Overall this book was a good quick read. I could see myself in Charisse so much. Not that I may have always attracted bums, but I definitely had myself guarded so that I was ready for the hurt before I could get hurt.
Charisse has been attracting bums her whole life. The lying cheating kind, not the ones on the street. As a real estate agent it's easy for her to meet good looking men all the time, but quality isn't really there. When she finally is able to let go of events in her past, she is able to demagnitize herself and find "The One" she has been looking for all along.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes quick reads with a strong female lead.

When I first saw this book I wasn't sure, a book written from the dog's point of view and a Dachshund's point of view at that, hmmm, how wrong could I have been. The author, Kathleen Chamberlin, captures the spirit and character of doxies totally. Showing how it is their home and life and we should be honoured to be allowed to share it with them. Marcy's disdain for the visitor is clearly felt and when the story takes a twist the reader eagerly follows Marcy, cheering on the family and generally revelling in the feeling of euphoria by the end.
A real, feel-good book for dog or pet owners, but a true treasure for anyone who has ever spent time with a doxie. I love it.

Wow this book was amazing. A real page turner. A must read.
If you start reading this book make sure you have plenty of time available, you will not want to put this book down. I know I didn't.

How do we know if someone lying? Well we don't really at the end of the day, we don't really want to know if someone we love is lying to us. Once we know someone is lying would that relationship ever be the same again? Probably not.
If you start reading this book make sure you have plenty of time available, you will not want to put this book down. I know I didn't.

A beautiful story of the Thames
It’s really hard to read through tears, you know. And that’s just what I had to do through the last chapters of this book. This book held my attention throughout. Its beautifully, lyrically written - it has a real feel of the fairytale and supernatural about it (Quietly, the Ferryman), set alongside the practical and realistic (Rita, the nurse/ midwife).
This is a story that follows several characters who come together because of a drowned child who comes back to life. The fantastical runs alongside the everyday, and the Thames runs alongside all of it.
I loved this book, it’s gentle pace (like the Thames on a good day, perhaps!), and the people who populated its pages. It really is a gorgeous book and well worth reading.

We all grew up hearing the regular version of Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc., but have you ever wanted to change it up a little, make them more like real life where we don't all come out smelling like roses in the end? Then this is the anthology for you. Classic stories are twisted and turned into something else, without the happy ending tied up in a nice little bow. I enjoyed each and every story, and I was surprised when I saw who wrote some of them. I'm sure this was a fun work to put together, and I'd definitely recommend it to fans of the slightly-off.
