The Flash, Vol. 1: Move Forward

First entry in the New 52 reboot, this (I felt) was a good jumping-on point for those of you who, like me, have really only seen the Grant Gustin starring TV show.

This, I felt, has some pretty dynamic art and a relativley straight-forward plot even if (to me) I couldn't quite get used to the version of Captain Cold!

Not bad!!
Not a bad reboot to be fair!

Nice up-to-date well picked actors, only thing that got me is the new soon to be angel wasn't all that phased that these spy girls have come and her life is endangered. But apart from that brilliant film plenty of action and plenty of comedy, definitely worth the watch!

Halloween (2007)

Rob Zombie was an inspired choice to helm the 2007 reboot of the series and the resulting film was very good indeed. Opting to focus more on Michael’s backstory was an intriguing change to the formula and a risky one at that.

Many fans concluded that it lessened the impact of Michael’s murders. Showing him as an abused child took away the supernatural elements that made Carpenter’s masterpiece so terrifying in 1978.

Nevertheless, I thought the idea worked well, and although Zombie’s film is a case of style over substance in some sequences, it’s a good reboot and one that manages to raise itself well above its horror stablemates at the time of release.

It also had an absolutely cracking soundtrack, but the less said about the disappointing sequel the better.

Before my week off I managed to squeeze in a screening of The Mummy before whizzing home. I was a little bit on the come down from stress, but I don't think it massively changed my mind that I was confused by this movie. I really wish everyone had left off with the "it's a reboot" thing. Say it's a reimagining of the mummy monster movie, but saying it's a reboot really makes you want to compare to the original, and quite frankly, every mummy movie is a bad knock off of the original. I liked some of it... That's as enthusiastic as I can get about it. The ending for me was too bizarre. And afterwards when I looked into it leading in to the Dark Universe... well, I wept a little for classic monster movies.

The second volume of the new Josie and the Pussycats iteration wasn't all that great. Again, the same writer, but it felt off. Overall, I kind of felt like the issues were weak. The only character I haven't liked in the reboot is Alan. He's kind of a super-douche and I'm not into it.
After reading this volume, I don't think I'll read any further.
