Disappointing
I was so excited to finally get a sequel to one of my favorite games on PS3 and probably my favorite EA game of all time. The main problem though was that the game didn’t know what it wanted to be, it couldn’t decide if it was a sequel or a reboot and it couldn’t decide if it wanted to be an open world game or linear based. Definitely the biggest disappointment of the year, but still quite fun if you enjoyed the first game.

The first Transporter movie is pretty much the definition of a guilty pleasure, due in no small part to Jason Statham in the lead role and some impressive stunt choreography.

The second and third? Largely forgettable, almost completely abandoning the limits of plausability.

This one is, essentially, a reboot of the series: the same basic premise is there; the same reliance on car chases and brawls in roughly the same setting (the French Riviera) and even elements of the same plot, but this one sorely misses the almost magnetic personality of its original leading man.

Sigh. I was so excited for this movie. Following both the 2014 Godzilla reboot and Kong: Skull Island, I thought for sure we were in for a truly great franchise that gets the source material. The first attempt wasn't perfect by any means, but I thought for sure that they could learn from it and tighten up the screws. They tightened all the wrong ones.
Dialogue was awful, fights were incoherent, and an emphasis on hero humans was mind numbing.
I wanted so much more. Do better.

After Kingsman: The Secret Service director Matthew Vaughn left X-Men: The Last Stand because of its rushed production schedule, Fox decided to bring him back to direct this reboot of the series. Things worked well overall, though the introduction of James McAvoy as Professor X did draw some criticism. Michael Fassbender’s role as young Magneto went down very well but fans still missed the original actors. The film was nicely paced but without a compelling villain, the overall script suffered.

Completely unnecessary
The original Nightmare on a Elm Street is a classic, so a reboot was always going to be a risky choice. There are parts of this that are actually not too bad, it’s just a shame the rest of the film is a mess.

So story wise, this does have a few nods to the original but yet also expands on the back story behind Freddy, which is definitely a good thing. The amount of gore is still very much present and a lot of the special effects are quite good, although there is a few dodgy patches of CGI. They’ve made Freddy very scary and creepy in this, and gotten rid of the jokes and humour, which really does work. The problem is that Jackie Earle Haley just isn’t Freddy. There was something about him, his look, that really didn’t work for me. And the rest of the casting wasn’t great either - I have no idea what Rooney Mara was doing in this but she was not likeable at all as Nancy. The story faltered too in the second half and dragged on, to the point where it became very boring. And the ending wasn’t a surprise. Yet another unnecessary reboot.

The Game Ends
So this is how it ends, all the lead up and ends on a low note, i expected soo much more, and it ends up disappointed, which is sad because i really liked 1-6 alot and i expected to like this alot. In the end, the final chapter wasnt the final chapter cause in 2017 their made anethor one, a sort of reboot/reintroduction to the franchise. Than this year that going to reboot it again. So all in all this wasnt the final chapter. Just the final chapter for 1-6.

The Plot: As a fierce battle rages over Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) terrible legacy, survivors seek support from a fellow survivor and self-help guru, who has a few dark secrets of his own. Meanwhile, crooked cop Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) seeks revenge against Jigsaw's wife and an author who has his own story.

Also what did the saw franchsie need, it needed 3d, and of course their choice the final chapter to do 3d. I watched it in 2d and what was ment to be 3d parts were bad, because you can tell their were ment to be watching in 3d, but your watching it in 2d.

Anyways a disappointed finale to a overall great franchise.

"That’s a cheat. I’ll cheat because my Dad directed it and I love cowboy movies and that was sort of a reboot of the cowboy genre because at the time, when he was going to make it, they (the studios) were like no, Westerns will never make money. And it comes out and it’s the number one movie out there. He’s a cowboy — my dad IS a cowboy — so he was the right guy to do that and he did it with a bunch of the kids I grew up with: Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen — those kids are just… It was amazing."

Amazingly average, wholly unessecary
Here we have a reboot of a mildly popular film franchise, based on a video game that is a reboot of a hugely beloved game series.

To sum up Tomb Raider in brief - if you are a fan of the original games, and don't really like the direction the recent games have taken, there is probably nothing here that will interest you.
If you are a fan of the recent game series, then you are probably better off just playing those instead of watching the movie adaption.

The film itself isn't terrible by any means, it's just completely bland and forgettable.
The plot is a run of the mill treasure hunting escapade, which we have seen countless times before, and done much better, with irrelevant side plots that bog down an already boring plot.
The action is so so, with some nice stunt work scattered here and there.

Alicia Vikander seems bored herself - I think as a movie, Tomb Raider is (very slightly) more credible than than the early 2000 efforts, but I do think the character of Lara Croft benefits from Angelina Jolie's charm.
It's like the writers couldn't decide whether to adapt the inexperienced and fighting-to-survive Lara Croft from the reboot series, or the more confident, one-liner Lara Croft from the original series, resulting in a flat adaption of either one.

All of the other characters involved are just as flat, so much so that I genuinely can't remember any of their names, or even who played them, with the exception of Dominic West - that dude is just in everything.
The script doesn't help matters one bit, threatening to put you to sleep at any given moment, and riddled with unintentionally funny Hollywood rubbish.

In summary, Tomb Raider can join the ever growing festering pile of dissapointment that are video game movies. (Except you Detective Pikachu, we love you <3)

The gore didn't seem right
Well hard to believe it's be 15 years since the first Hellboy, this reboot largely seems to have gone under the radar. I can see why.
Despite the big budget feel and huge amount of SFX it just feels like a very standard action film. Quite gory and with every fight accompanied by a thumping rock track. The plot is very by the numbers. It doesn't have the sense of humour of the earlier films. Overall an average action film nothing special but you might enjoy more if you are a fan of the other Hellboy films.

Very underwhelmed. Prefer the original. This has none of the humour of the first.
