Dean (6927 KP) rated Easy Rider (1969) in Movies
Apr 7, 2018
The ultimate road trip film that is regarded a cult classic. For what it is about and at the time it was made I can imagine it made a big impact back then. A time when many things were changing in America. As a film though there are long quiet parts and a lot of random scenes that don't make a lot of sense. Great soundtrack though!

A classic Thriller
For 1971 this was a very good if simple thriller about a battle of wits between a truck driver and a salesman on a long road trip. One of Spielberg's earlier films and shot in just 16 days. This cat and mouse thriller has inspired many other films and TV episodes since. If you haven't seen it track it down.

Journeys, love, loss and hope
This book was great! It is reminiscent of The Passage and The Road. Equal parts hopeful and despairing, this novel slowly reels you in and makes you care about its characters and their journey. The ending, though bittersweet, is masterful. There are only a few spots where the plot falters but these are easily forgivable in light of the finished product.

The twists and turns in this books will keep your head spinning! The characters are really well developed and you can truely feel what they are going through. I loved that this book had a different bend in the road to your usual mystery/ romance books. I definately highly recommend this book. It would also make a really good movie for those that like movies.
David McK (3663 KP) rated Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) in Books

The first book in Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series, this is probably best described as the novel equivalent of a road-movie, starting (as it does) with it's protaganist already on the run, and following her journey.
The book is pretty fast moving, with the reasons for Joanne Baldwin being on the run gradually revealed throughout. Think I will be reading some more of these!
