War Is Hell
For a movie about a pacifist, this one doesn't shy away from the gory horrors of war. Nonetheless though, this is a great movie. The set and the sound design and the whole production level in general is astonishing. Garfield shines here in the lead role and Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington are also great in their respective roles.

Frustratingly good.
Fractured has been sitting in the watchlist for quite sometime so after some recommendations from friends I decided to watch it. The only other thing I had seen Sam Worthington in was Avatar so I didn't really know what to expect from him. I really struggle to get into films but it's safe to say that Fractured got me hooked. Worthington plays a father, Ray, who's daughter, Perrie, is injured when she falls from a height. Ray also sustains a head injury when he falls trying to rescue her. Along with his wife, Jo, Ray takes Perrie to hospital where she is seen by the doctors and nurses and is prescribed a head scan. Jo and Perrie are taken away for the scan and go missing. Distraught, Ray sets out to find his wife and daughter.
Worthington gives a really convincing performance as Ray. I found myself getting as equally frustrated as him when he was trying to convince everyone of his wife and daughter's existence.
Compared to the beginning and middle of the film I felt the ending was a little bit weak but overall Fractured was a good watch.

The Hunter’s Prayer (2017)
The Hunter’s Prayer (2017)
2017 | Action
Sam Worthington pushes himself as an assassin hired to kill a teenage girl as he struggles to face his own demons - addiction, his past as a soldier, and his lack of relationship with his own teenage daughter. The movie is action from start to finish with not a lot of great suspense or unexpected plot twists. However, for an action flick, its rather mild presentation (minimal swearing, not overly graphic, no unnecessary sexual content) plus the realistic potrayal of the emotions the hunter and the hunted must work through, this is an enjoyable movie!

"Clash of the Titans raised me, to the point where I probably watched it in my old apartment 35 times. It was a constant. It was so advanced for its time. Harry Hamlin was in it; he went on to be in L.A. Law with Blair Underwood. And the Kraken… It was so good! I could watch it over and over. I think they tried to remake it, right? With Sam Worthington? The original Clash of the Titans, though, is just… I could watch that all the time."

Terminator Salvation (2009)
2009 | Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi
Released back in 2009, this was - at the time - meant to be the first in a new trilogy if Terminator films.

This is the one set almost entirely in a post apocalyptic 'future' (2018, so - at the time of reviewing - 2 years ago), with Sam Worthington still riding his fame after Avatar (before seemingly disappearing), and with Christian Bale taking on the role of a grown-up John Connor.

The film, however, is probably more famous for his on-set meltdown/temper tantrum...

No Arnie - for once - and with a young Anton Yelchin (before his unfortunate demise) as Kyle Reese, this is actually better than I remember it to be, if not brilliant.

It was all the words I put in the heading of my rating. I loved Andrew Garfield in it as the main character. I think he did an AMAZING job playing the role of Desmond T Doss. It is rated R but I really liked it. I was leery about it because it's rated R, which I am about ALL rated R movies but I really enjoyed it. Sam Worthington is also in it. He plays the lead male character in AVATAR. I think he did a really good job in it too. It also stars Teresa Palmer who is also in The Choice. Overall, I really enjoyed it! I would watch it again AND HAVE!

Heist movie mainly starring Kevin Hart (in a mostly light hearted role) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the two leads (with room for the likes of Sam Worthington, Jean Reno and Vincent d'Onofrio most noticeably), with the former a master thief and the latter an intelligence agent - each of whom previously fell for the other, when both undercover - who have to put aside their past differences and lead a heist on board an aircraft in flight (hence the double meaning behind the name 'lift'), transporting gold to a terrorist.

I watched this mainly so I could play spot-the-location (some of it being filmed in my home country of Northern Ireland), but have to say it was also better than I was expecting!

I went into this without expecting much. More often than not Netflix originals fall flat. I can’t understand why, given the amount of money that the streaming service has behind them? While their original TV series’ are bingewatched, their original films just don’t seem to get the high praise – until now.

Ray Monroe (Sam Worthington) and his wife Joanne (Lily Rabe) are driving back from Thanksgiving with Joanne’s parents, by all accounts it didn’t go well as the pair bicker over cold turkey and the dirty looks Ray receives from Joanne’s mother. Oblivious to their low key argument is daughter Peri (Lucy Capri), sat in the back seat. When the trio makes a pit stop at a local gas station Peri is injured in a fall and Ray takes her to the local hospital to get help. What results is a Hitchkoiam style thriller with several clever twists and turns that will leave you constantly second-guessing yourself.

Worthington is a hit and miss actor, but here actually stands up on his own two feet and delivers a solid performance as a desperate father and husband pushed to the edge

Ray has a troubled past. At the gas station, he purchases miniature bottles of alcohol rather than the batteries needed for Peri’s music player. He’s dealing with a number of issues that invlude trying to save his rocky marraige and escape a past that keeps coming back to haunt him. Worthington is a hit and miss actor, but here actually stands up on his own two feet and delivers a solid performance as a desperate father and husband pushed to the edge.

As the drama and tension unfolds we start to wonder whether or not Ray has actually lost it? We are swayed one way to the next, settling on a likely outcome but then changing our minds mid way through. Is the hospital hiding something? To go into any more detail would give it away but it’s safe to say that in my humble opion this is one the best thrillers I have seen for some time.

380. Fractured. The makers of this film finally figured out how to make a good Sam Worthington movie. Have him walk around totally confused due to a head injury for 95% of the movie! On the way back from the in-laws the Monroe family stop at small convenience store, and as they get ready to leave, daughter Peri is confronted by a mean ol junkyard dog, and when dad, Ray tries to help, well doesn't go so great. Father and daughter go tumbling down into what looks like a rather unsafe construction site. Ray whacks is head pretty hard, daughter Peri, appears to have more serious injuries. Mom, Joanne, coming from the restroom we assume, comes to help, they all pack in the car and off to the hospital they go. As the docs go to take Peri to go get checked out, only one more person can go with, so mom heads off with her. And that's the last time Ray see's them. He dozes off in the waiting room, to see the sun setting, wakes startled heads to the check in and asks about his daughter. Who? The hospital staff seem to remember Ray coming in alone, for a head injury. What? Let the paranoia begin! Directed by Brad Anderson, who also directed one of my fave movies Session 9, did a great job keeping Ray looking confused and with reason the entire movie, Sam Worthington's strong point, lol. I say go for it, fast paced, paranoia thriller... Filmbufftim on FB

Good performances make it watchable
I was told i had to watch this by my brother, and more surprisingly my mum, but in all honesty I wasn't too impressed.

The performances in this are great and these are what kept me watching. Paul Bettany is very unnerving as Ted and even Sam Worthington, who I don't particularly rate as an actor, was actually quite good. Visually it looks good and the script, staging and directing are all well done and quite gritty and dark.

The problem with this series is that there's nothing to grip you & no surprises. Whilst I wasn't aware of the true story behind the Unabomber, the series starts off by telling you who he is and then relaying how he was caught across the 8 episodes. Even the trial at the end isn't particularly interesting. I can understand why they wanted to tell the story in a non linear manner, but for me this just didn't work. I didn't want to know who the unabomber was right at the start, as even though the investigation into how he's caught is vaguely interesting, there are no plot twists or turns to keep you hooked. It made for a very dull series and my hopes for a massive twist ending or something shocking were sadly dashed.
