Unpleasant
I hated this movie from start to finish. I don't mind ulraviolent satire, but this movie was unpleasantly malicious throughout.

My advice, go watch Robocop (The original)

This movie is crazy in a good way. It keeps you on your toes, tells a good story, builds good characters, and does some excellent social satire. Don't expect a cozy feel-good movie, it gets weird.

"One of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. Hyper-sharp satire and wit together with joyful physical comedy, real emotion, and surprising social and personal awareness. The Lady Eve is great, too, but Sullivan’s Travels feels more modern."

Ridiculously early Oscar predictions:
Best Picture- Jojo Rabbit (they have never been keen on satire, but it looks like a winner at TIFF)
Best Director- Terence Malick, A Hidden Life
Best Actor- Antonio Banderas, Pain & Glory (plays a veiled version of his director like Roy Scheider)
Best Actress- Cynthia Erivo, Harriet
Best Supporting Actor- John Lithgow, Bombshell (they like villainous people)
Best Supporting Actress- Annette Bening (famous Oscar loser gets redemption)
Best Original Screenplay- The Farewell (QT has 2 already)
Best Adapted Screenplay- Jojo Rabbit (writers live satire though)

"Well, I mean, come on. This is a masterpiece. I don’t know what to say that hasn’t already been said by many people way smarter than me, but it set a very high bar for brilliant satire, acting, cinematography, production design, everything."

A film thoroughly deserving of its Oscar success. A brilliantly original and clever slice of satire and social commentary. It’s got many twists in its tail and certainly doesn’t end how you would expect. One you will certainly be thinking about for days afterwards.

"I almost left this off my list, because what’s left to say about it? Renoir celebrates the death knell of the French aristocracy with sublime grace and trenchant satire. No final shot in film history can chill me to the bone like this one."
