Aesthetics 101
I never saw the original. The way this film is paced, as well as the extraordinary use of color makes it a perfect thing to study for aesthetics of film. The story makes it enjoyable, as well.

I don’t think I saw any of the twists coming. The main characters and the supporting characters were fantastically well-developed. They all added something to the story.Highly Recommend

A true classic
Saw this gem far too late. The hype is warranted and well deserved. All round enjoyment for family of all ages and much to appreciate for all. You'll be surprised how many phrases from it you'll recognise.

Good idea for a movie escape rooms but filled with death traps similar to saw movies and cube I watched it hoping wondering who would live and who would die. And they left it open for a sequel not a bad thriller

"I saw this last year for the first time. Can’t believe I’d waited so long. It was the most euphoric moviegoing experience I’ve had in forever. So progressive and singular—the performances, the editing, the compositions, the production design. Just absolutely perfect in every way."

"It was one of the most intense ways of getting into the adult world and I saw it when I was really young. I couldn’t believe that there were stories that were so close to reality. It felt like that, it felt very real."

"One of six films Wellman made in 1932. All are great. I saw this at Film Forum on a very cold November day in 2013, left the theater, and had to walk for five miles without stopping to get a hold of myself again."
