Descriptive and Chilling horror
I saw this film many years ago and have meant to get around to reading the book. William Blatty does a nice foreword and explains why the book was written and about the extra character that is in it. Its a gripping read from the very start but be warned it goes into very graphic, obscene and depraved descriptions so if you are easily offended stay away (well it is a book about possession after all). A very good read that keeps you wanting to just read a bit more, good back stories to some of the characters help to explain situations that were not dealt with in the film. The character of father Merrin could have been written for Max Von Sydow (who played him in the film). I would give this four stars as i thought it ended a little too quickly and it would have been better if the ending had been stretched out and explained (like the film).

Good twist at the end (0 more)
Little boring (0 more)
I did enjoy this book. I like crime novels and was not aware this was paranormal as well but it did all make sense and tie in at the end.
Once I started reading I couldn't out the book down - I read it in a day.
The story flowed well and it was interesting to find out the back ground of each character. I did like the twist at the end when the newspaper cut outs and reports were found. It really tied everything together.
I couldn't connect with the characters but that could be because some of them weren't around long and others I just didn't feel anything for. I didn't care what happened to each character and/or when it happened.
The story reminded me of the Saw films. They were more about a game and torture which I don't like so the book was better.
The book was very well put together.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

Not as Described
If you saw this trailer, and were expect8ng an numerous tale of Maggie Smith playing an obstanant and witty old lady... you are going to be disappointed.
While there is some humour in this film, mostly dark and subtle (Not that that is an issue) it is not as hysterical as the trailer makes out. This is one of those very annoying cases where the genre and themes of the film, we're lost on whoever cut the trailer.
Said trailer is jammed full of every joke in the film, leaving you to think, "oka y, this looks fun, this will cheer me up". Sadly, the overall feel of the film is more drama than comedy.
That said, it is a very good film, well worth a watch, with the usual perfect performance from Maggie, but do not expect to be cheered up by this film, as it is quite sad.
I liked the film, however I was disappointed as I wanted something light and witty, this brought me down man.

The game That Never Ends
Saw IV- continues right off from the 3rd movie, im really liking these movies, their is something about them that i really like. I think its because of the twist and turns throught the story, John's charcter and motivation, the mystery, the suspense and the thrills. This one you really get to know John's back-story through flashbacks. This franchise has alot of flashbacks which is good, because then you truely understand the story at hand. This franchises endings are soo good, and leave you wanted more.

The Plot: During the autopsy of serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), a cassette tape is discovered in his stomach in which he warns that his gory games will continue. Sure enough, SWAT Lt. Daniel Rigg (Lyriq Bent) is forced to follow a blood-drenched trail of torture, dismemberment and death in order to find two missing colleagues. A pair of FBI profilers follow Riggs, suspecting he might be Jigsaw's accomplice, even as they unlock the puzzle of the killer's origins, seen in gruesome flashbacks.

Such a good franchise.

I don't think this is a book I would immediately pick up if I saw it in the shelf. Although I have an interest in pathology (it was actually one of the career paths I considered at the young age of 13 when having to decide your GCSE options), I'm not so interested I would read about it. But this book surprised me! Dr Shepherd has been on hand for numerous high profile and high death count incidents. His story telling is phenomenal. I was so sad to read how forensic pathology eventually took its toll on his mind, but was glad to see he pursue with his interest. This is definitely a thankless job. And this book has given me so much insight. If you are a bit squeemish, this really isn't for you. There were times I felt, while reading, not engaged in the text but I was brought back after a while and towards the end when he talks about PTSD it is clear why writing style alters within the text.

Wally (Pryor) hears a murder and smells the murderer whilst working for Dave (Wilder) who saw of the murderer leaving, through a series of misunderstandings they become suspects for the murder, being chased by both the police and the villains this duo must survive, not get arrested and prove their innocence...

Dave is deaf, and owns a magazine stand, Wally is blind and approaches Dave for a job, which is when the mayhem begins. Both actors play their parts brilliantly and you could almost believe they are blind and deaf, even with the slightly non pc subject matter and the fact it is a comedy, you don't feel they are mocking deafness or blindness.

This is strangely not considered as good as their two previous outings, Silver Streak and Stir Crazy but I think it is equally as good if not slightly better

Book number 18 in Simon Scarrow's long-running Macro and Cato series, which means he's catching up on Bernard Cornwell's Sharpe for sheer proliferation of books with the same central character(s) (and that's a good thing).

Following on from the previous novel ("The Blood of Rome"), Macro and Cato are still in charge of the Praetorians, and still on the eastern fringes of the Roman Empire (Syria), with Cato then tasked with making a dangerous journey into Parthia to deliver Rome's demands to the ruler of that nation while the recently-married (at the start of the novel) Macro, under General Corbulo, lays siege to the small kingdom of Thapsis in the mountains which has risen in revolt against Rome.

I have to say, with a title like 'Traitors of Rome' and with the extremely mercenary (historical) nature of the Praetorian Guard, I first thought - when I saw the title - that the Traitors of Rome would themselves prove to be the Praetorians themselves!

That's not the case, however, read the novel to finds out what is ...

Suspense and thrilling
Valkyrie- is a good movie. Its a good suspense, thriller thats based on a true story.

The plot: Col. Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) serves Germany with loyalty and pride but fears that Hitler will destroy his country if allowed to run unchecked. With time running out for Germany and the rest of Europe, von Stauffenberg joins a group of like-minded, high-ranking men who want to overthrow the Nazi regime from within. With everything he holds dear in the balance, von Stauffenberg becomes the trigger man in a plot to assassinate the evil dictator.

One eye patched tom cruise is a plus. It makes him more intense. Reminds me of Snake Plissken.

So i watched the trailer, and the music their were playing was the "Saw Theme", which was intresting. Cause i love that theme song, its so intense and makes things 10x more intense and intresting. Thats why i watched this film, because that theme song made the movie look really intresting and intense. Which it was. It was suspenseful and thrilling till the end.

Hooked from start to finish!
When i saw this book at a service station i remembered the title for future refrence. A few months later i picked the book up for a new read . Now being ex forces myself i found that i tend to stay away from these types of military biography books as they seem full of bravado and people portaying themselves at the big "i am".
However, from start to finish i could not put it down and read the book in 2 sittings. He brushes over his military carear and exlapined how he got involved in the secret service, once hisntraining was complete he explains various actions and what the secret service does in and aroumd the UK, i must admit it was an eye opener as things happen under our noses and the extent that these operators go through. Even to the point of havimg false names, even with their colleagues throughout their carear. Above all a very intresting read and would looking forward to reading other books on the secret service

Andre and Camille have known each other for a while now. They were both in their friends, Peyton & Lance's wedding. But Camille left the party early and Andre sees no reason to stick around. When he gets home, he's lonely and wants a warm body by his side. He goes on the the app Booty Call and who does he find there buy Camille. He invites her over and one thing leads to another and the next thing you know, they're in bed together and neither one of them is mad about that. But can friends become lovers, or will it ruin the friendship.

Humpany is the 3rd book in the Booty Call Series, and this one I liked. I liked that Andre and Camille had a friendly relationship and didn't just jump in bed every time they saw each other. Camille is the type of girl I would be friends with. She is laid back and knows what she wants.

Another quick read from the Queens of the Quickie.
