"If I had to think of a Bowie album, then this would be the one that pinpointed when I was at my most susceptible. I would have been 14 or 15, and I just remember carrying it into school and feeling very proud to have that vinyl under my arm, and feeling very different to the other kids. The first actual album I bought was The Man Who Sold The World, which I still have a real soft spot for, but I wouldn't say it's as developed as those later albums. Everybody talks about Bowie's golden period as the early 70s, and you tend to forget about everything beyond Scary Monsters, and that's the way I feel too – I think he was by far at his most creative period at that time. It's difficult to pick one album from that period; you could have any of them from Hunky Dory to Scary Monsters. But for me, this is the record that left the biggest mark combined with my age."

Vertigo (1958)

"Number five, Vertigo. I had to go with one old movie. It’s a movie about obsession. I think it probably captures obsession better than any other movie before or since that I’ve seen. It’s got incredible rewatchability. I think — of all the movie’s I’ve ever watched — it’s the movie that gives me goosebumps most frequently from start to finish. If you could describe a movie as being funny or scary, funny is supposed to provoke laughter and scary is supposed to provoke your heart to race. That movie is just the right amount of goosebumps. It is the movie that produces goosebumps and that’s the reason I love it and I’ve watched it many, many times. It’s gorgeous, too — in San Francisco — and there are other reasons, but it’s just so wonderfully creepy and cool. The score of Vertigo, too, is so phenomenal — Bernard Herrman. It’s very, very memorable, and it gets to the point where, even after I’ve seen the movie, I’m humming the score. Anyway, that’s my number five."

Poorly executed
I remember seeing the trailer for this and being intrigued, yet didn't get chance to watch it at the cinema. Which is a shame as it might have been better on the big screen.

The plot and idea behind this is a good one. An app that tells you when you die thats actually true? With today's technology reliant society, this is a wonderful idea for a film as it can resonate with most people. The problem is that it has been very poorly executed. I didn't find it particularly scary or horrifying, and the number of deaths in this are surprisingly lacking. They've also tried to give this a proper back story and explanation when really it wasn't necessary. If they had made it a lot creepier and a lot less explainable, this could've actually been a decent film as the acting of a couple of leads was quite good. And i loved the IT guy who definitely brought a few laughs.

Overall not terrible, but not particularly scary for a horror which was a shame.

Almost DOA
Amazingly I haven't seen the original so can't compare them. I didn't expect much from this and it turned out pretty much by the numbers. It starts ok and nice to see a small role for Kiefer Sutherland. However there is a real lack of tension or scares in the second half of the film. It could have raised the stakes in many ways but stays in the middle ground.

Not even remotely scary
The best way to describe this slightly mediocre horror film is that it is totally blah. That's right, there's nothing particularly chilling apart from the fact we already know the ending as this is the prequel to Ouija. Therefore it is a bit of an anti-climax. The biggest excitement / horror was the fact the main character in ET is in this film and he's currently around 40 years old. Talk about shocking, makes you feel old.

Good Sfx for the early 80's
Great fantasy adventure
Before Lord of the Rings this was the closest you got to a fantasy/action epic. Had good SFX for the time of filming '83! It has a wide range of characters and creatures as a group come together to rescue a princess. A little surprise it was a pg rating. Younger kids might find it a bit scary. Featuring a young Robbie Coltrane and Liam Neeson.

The only book to give me a nightmare
In nearly 30 years of being an avid reader, this is the only book to have ever given me a nightmare. I woke up terrified multiple nights in a row while reading this book. The details described are gruesome and difficult to read without experiencing the horrors described within the pages.

This book is especially terrifying for anyone who is a parent. Even more so for those with small children.

Beware the kindness of strangers
I watched this today as there was little else on at present I haven't seen already. It's another stalker obsessive tale that's been done better plenty of times. Just above average thanks to the 2 quality leads. There are a few plot wise things that make you think, why not do this? Never really scary, or creepy and definitely a bit bonkers. Still fairly enjoyable despite its short comings.

Shazam!!
I thought this movie was very good. But for a superhero movie I felt like it had more foul language and scary parts than your average hero film. I wouldn't reccomend bringing younger kids if they get scared easily. I did enjoy the humorous parts, and the part of the sidekick played by Jack Dylan Grazer was great. The writing was good, and Mark Strong as the villain is always a good choice.

Sometimes you are just in the mood for a crocodiles eating people movie and not that stupid Sharknado crap. This movie actually has a great cast including Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman and Oliver Platt and has some genuine funny/scary moments.

You could do a lot worse in this genre with other lesser films.

I quite enjoy this one and HAPPY 96TH BIRTHDAY TO BETTY WHITE!
