A classic
I still love this story after countless readings and about as many reboots. Few are unfamiliar with the story, which lends itself well to contemporary retellings. But I enjoy revisiting the original now and then. It's a very quick read, and one of my favorite ghost stories and tales of redemption. If Scrooge can change, who can't?

Christmas With Muppets
A different spin on the classic tale, its the same story but it adds more to it. It adds the muppets to it and Micheal Caine as Scrooge. Which he was perfect in this film by the way. Thank you Jim Hanson and disney for producing this film. Also Jim Hanson's son Brain directed this film.
I love the muppets and their were excellent and perfect in this film. Their make you laugh, cry, smile, happy and more, the muppets make you really care.
The Plot: The Muppets perform the classic Dickens holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Other Muppets -- Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Fozzie Bear and Sam the Eagle -- weave in and out of the story, while Scrooge receives visits from spirits of three Christmases -- past, present and future. They show him the error of his self-serving ways, but the miserable old man seems to be past any hope of redemption and happiness.
Whos my favorite muppet you may ask well its Kermit the Frog then Beaker then Rowlf the Dog and then Fozzie Bear.
A excellent christmas movie for the whole family to watch.

Bill Murray is always watchable and he seems to have been given free reign here as scrooge in this modern comedic Richard Donner retelling, not only is it laugh out loud, and considerably violent in parts, it never loses its heart and message of redemption, not for everyone I would guess, however, one I very much enjoy as a guilty pleasure.

Prepare to get musically scrooged.
In this alternative take on the much beloved Christmas classic, things are quickly changed up when the ghosts of Christmas's past, present and future begin to skip out on fulfilling their duties due to personal issues and one particular character who is unredeemable begins to question the past of of the ghost of Christmas present.
Great musical numbers, plenty of laughs and a brilliant alternative take make this a movie definitely worth watching.

The ultimate Christmas film
This is by far my favourite Christmas film and I watch it every year without fail, and it never fails to raise some festive cheer.
The Muppets with Michael Caine as Scrooge, you really can’t go wrong. It’s thoroughly enjoyable, full of great humour and heartwarming scenes. The songs too are well written, catchy and some even bring a tear to your eye. The only negative thing I can say about this is that it’s sadly looking a little dated, but it’s still miles more entertaining than some of the more recent Christmas films.

Jingled all the way
An alternate take on the classic Christmas movie "Jingle all the way" throws two neighbours who are on opposite sides of the same coin, one who wants to be friends and the other a little scrooge-esque who doesn't.
It's almost Christmas, a little girl wants the the most sought after pink pony toy around and dad refused to pay the Instore price and his neighbour knows where to get one.
This revelation leads the unlikely duo on an going on an oddball journey - thieves, low speed car chase and a hobo santa are all part of a day's work...
Starring Stephen Merchant & Asim Chaudhry

Another re-telling of a classic
So I've seen MANY renditions of this wonderful Charles Dickins story, this one is one i actually really like. It doesn't deviate from the original story, although yes it is quite darker than other tellings. I don't see that as a negative though, it's a dark story it doesn't need to be lightened to shield the darkness of a classic.
When you see Jim Carrey is Ebenezer Scrooge you do question, Hmm, is that really the right person to play this iconic character? The answer is yes. Jim is usually typecast as the funny man but in this he's cast very well. I also like that it's digital 3D which i think is the first time A Christmas Carol has been done in such a way.

Fruit Bat (42 KP) rated The Boss of Bethnal Green, Joseph Merceron the Godfather of Regency London in Books
Mar 1, 2018
I've never heard of this Joseph Merceon until I came across this book in a bookshop and it turned out to be a very enjoyable and interesting read
Joseph Merceon was born above a pawnbrokers in Brick Lane London in the year 1764. In the insuring years he would rise to control the whole of Bethnal Green through intimidation bribery,fraud and without a single feeling of compassion for others including his own family. I can honestly say I find Joseph Merceon to be a truly rotten individual and makes Scrooge like a pussycat.
The book is clearly written and you can tell that the life Joseph Merceon has been thoroughly researched by the author. The book is very informative and would it be of great interest to anybody interested in the history of London overall I'd say definitely a five star read.

~~~~THE MEANT TO BE GIRL by TAWDRA KANDLE~~~~~
Ashley Webbar remembers the exact moment Zane Fletcher stormed in to her life, and her salon. Over the past 6 months she has watched him fall for someone else and wished with everything that it was her that caught his eye. Not that she would ever think he could fall for someone like her. She isnt worthy, she never has been but maybe the magical love fruitcake knows something she doesnt.
Zane has been trying to months to let Ashley know how he feels about her. Each time he tries they get interrupted in some way, shape or form. It is now or never, he has to lay it all out on the line. Too bad when he starts she shoves a fruitcake in his face. What??
Can Ashley and Zane finally realize they are falling for each other with or without the fruitcake? Back to Burton in this quick read that is part of a multiple author Christmas anthology. I received an advance copy without any expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own. The Meant to be Girl gets 4 stars from this reader.
****Scrooge You by MK Schiller ******
Eva is a total scrooge for Christmas, well not just for Christmas it seems anymore. She works for a small company, owned by the man that has been part of her family as long as she can remember so that should account for something, right? She is restless and looking to move on but also feeling guilty like she is abandoning them. She doesnt know what else to do. When she gets home and finds her boyfriend has invited more people over for the holiday, then finds an engagement ring hidden in a drawer she freaks out. When Jack leaves, Eva goes to bed and is then visited by the ghosts (Jack) of Christmases past, present and future. Figure in the magical romance fruitcake from Delilahs Cove and you have a quick, romantic, holiday spirit filled story fitting for the anthology.
Ive never read anything by this author before and this was a cute, quick read. I voluntarily read a copy of this 3 ½ star story from Booksprout without expectation for review. Any and all opinions expressed are my own.
