**minor spoiler that DOESN'T REALLY COUNT (because it's obvious within the first four chapters anyway)**

For such a simple story line, this book drew me in right way. Girl meets boy, girl falls in love with boy, and boy pretends she’s nothing until he gets to his last nerve and it breaks and he needs her. Although I was pretty sure where it was going, and there wasn’t much of a plot, I was addicted to reading it. It took me about three days (the pages took a long time to load, or I would have read it in one sitting.) and it killed me to stop.

The characters were like real people—because they weren’t perfect. Conrad was bitter and selfish, Jeremiah was immature, and Belly (cool name) lied to herself and made some poor choices. The adults, too, had their “fatal flaws.” But when you put real people into real situations (divorce, cancer, jealousy) you get a real story—and one worth reading.

I adored this book. I will probably buy it when it comes out so I can read it over again. It belongs on my bookshelf.

I last read this book in September 2012 and commented that I found the ending a bit rushed so would try it again to see if it made a difference.

IT DID!!!

There is so much detail in this book and it has such a build up to the big finale, with new characters even appearing right at the end, that that is why I felt it was rushed. This book is definitely better second time around as you don't feel so overloaded with characters and you are able to enjoy it more. It is a fantastic story, rich in detail and imagery. Excellent book that gets better every time you read it. Definitely a keeper.

I recently "bought" this ebook (totally free!!!!) and thoroughly enjoyed it ... until the ending. It can be a bit complicated trying to read it with 2 girls vying for your attention as it flips from ancient Wales to modern day LA but the characters intermingle throughout both eras. The only trouble I had with it was the ending - it just seemed a bit rushed to me. Perhaps I'll have to read it again and see if it makes a difference. Apart from that - excellent book.

Little update, so I know that "Films That I Missed in 2019" won for my poll recently. Unfortunately, their are films that recently came out on dvd, that have a long holding list for the library system that I use. Plus not everything for 2019 is out yet on dvd, their are films in December that I wanted to see and Didnt. That I wanted to see, so i have to push it back until September. Hopefully you guys are not upset/mad/angry with me. So for next month I'm doing "More Classic Disney Animation Films".
