Second entry in Michael A Stackpole's Star Wars: X-Wing series (a total of 10 novels, the first four written by Stackpole and centring around a reconstituted Rogue Squadron), following on from'Rogue Squadron' and taking as its inspiration the old LucasArt X-Wing/TIE fighter series of computer games. Hadn't read books these since the late 90s.

These novels (and the aforementioned games, now all considered 'Legends' by Disney) are my head-canon of what the sequel trilogy should have been.

Anyway, in this novel in particular, the action now moves from space to the city-planet of Coruscant, the seat of the Imperial Government that took over from the Old Republic and - in the Legends continuity at least - also that of the New Republic.

Here, we have the members of Rogue Squadron infiltrating said city planet and looking for a way to bring down the planetary shields so that the rest of the fleet can arrive, but they may be playing into the villain-of-the-piece Ysanne Isard's hands in so doing ...

For anybody that hasn't read this, it ends in a massive cliff-hanger, so be warned you'll be wanting to move onto the sequel 'The Krytos Trap' not long after finishing it ...

One of my all-time favorite movies!
I love Deadpool, but the version in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was awful. Ryan Reynolds did his best but...ugh. So I was iffy about the premise of a full movie for the character. Would it just be a full-length rehash of the Wolverine mess?

No, I'm glad to say it is not. Deadpool is an action-packed, raunchy, romantic but not sappy, and character-driven movie that definitely left me wanting more. I'm glad I gave it another go and am really looking forward to the sequel.

Bridget Jones is back
I didn't think another Bridget Jones film could possibly be good, but I'm pleased to say I was wrong.

This is the sequel Edge of Reason should've been. It's funny, heartwarming and all round lovely. Bridget is one of those endearing characters you can't help but love, despite the fact that Renee Zellweger is looking a little plastic nowadays, and Mark Darcy is adoringly awkward. I'm not a huge fan of romantic comedies but this has to be an exception. I cant believe anyone could watch this film and not feel warm & fuzzy inside.

Great prequel to Silence of the Lambs
This star-studded film is a brilliant sequel / prequel to Silence of the Lambs, unlike the other films in the franchise. It's not overly gory and it focuses on character development. The plot is well-done and the acting is superb. Of course Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson and Edward Norton get a special mention. It's a dark tale about a forensic detective attempting to trace a serial killer who has a penchant for murdering whole families all the while 'transforming' into the Red Dragon.

Pretty good, but a slightly missed opportunity.
I found this film to be very entertaining, with some good action sequences and even better humour. However there is a real sense that is they had pushed the boundaries further this could of been a great film. The mad scientist angle has been done to death over the years and while the action of entertaining, it's quite tame considering that it's a bout a alien eating people for fun. Nevertheless it does entertain and sets up what could be a great sequel if they learn from the mistakes of this one.

It doesn't get much better than The Raid "Redemption" and its sequel, The Raid 2 in terms of non-stop action, but still an interesting plot. You will be glued to your seat from the word go as you not only try and figure out where the story is going, but also enjoy the extremely impressive, realistic choreography. Also, given the indoor, stifling sets, it makes the action that much better.

It kind of reminded me of the new "Dredd" film with Karl Urban in plot, but that is not a complaint.

Highly recommended for action film fans.

Paige Marshall has taken a job coaching a show choir until her big break singing opera comes through. But when a rival coach is murdered, she starts trying to clear one of her students of the crime. The book is fun with great characters, fast moving plot, and gentle humor woven in. Paige took a couple more risks than I felt like she should have, but I enjoyed it and definitely plan to read the sequel.

Poor sequel
Not bad for a straight to DVD release but no where near as good as the first film. It's on a much lower budget and it shows. It does follow on from the first, so you'll need to see that if you haven't already. It has a recognizable cast with Kiele Sanchez (A Perfect Getaway) replacing Melissa George from the first film. It has a few good bloody moments but descends into being another hunt the Vampires film and that has been done much better before. Not awful but not up to the levels of the first.
