The Women's Murder Club are hot on the trail of a cat burglar who just escalated to murder and a serial killer praying on women and their very young kids. After the disappointing last book in the series, I actually found this one enjoyable. The epilogue left much to be desired, however. Mindless entertainment, but fun mindless entertainment.

Four in a Grave
This. Book.

I have no words.

But I will try my absolute best, to sum up my feelings.

This book is about Tessa who is the only living survivor of a serial killer who buried her alive along with three other girls. Their grave was then covered with 'black-eyed Susans' which are a yellow flowered weed (hence the title of the book)

Serial killer/true crime documentaries are my favorite things to watch. I recently read The Stranger Beside Me, which is by Ann Rule, who worked with Ted Bundy, and, with the hype surrounding Zac Efron playing Bundy, it makes sense that Netflix would drop this now.
Sadly, it was boring, and offered very little, if any new information. If you don't really know a ton about Bundy, it's a good introduction to his ego and crimes.

"I absolutely love this film. Robert Mitchum is incredible as a serial killer roving about in the guise of a preacher. It's the only film Charles Laughton directed, which, on the evidence of this film, is a real shame, as he seemed to have a real flair for it. There are a lot of great performances, and you can't help but wonder if Laughton’s vast experience as an actor helped him get the best out of his cast."

This was a cover buy for me for sure. But I didn't NOT like it.

Makani is stuck living with her grandma in nowhere Nebraska, being shipped off by her parents who are struggling through a divorce in Hawaii, when their small Nebraska town suddenly becomes home to a serial killer.

Love the idea, didn't love the pacing. The first half was slow for me. Halfway through we are told who the killer is. Which initially I hated, but the second half definitely picked up speed, and the ending, while a little unbelievable, did redeem the book overall for me.

If nothing else, this was a good way to end spooky season!
