Decent Thriller
Heard good things about this Thriller currently on Netflix. It has a very good cast line up in the main roles. To start off with it feels like a James Patterson Alex Cross or Jo Nesbo story, quite similar to @Kiss The Girls (1997) in some ways. The plot is ok but towards the final third of the film it just feels like it's trying to be too much like those style of Thrillers but falls a little short. It had great potential but turns out just ok. One for Thriller fans.

"I recently picked up Jean Vigo's dreamy 1934 story of a honeymoon couple heading to Paris on a barge. It's still startling and would have been way out on its own in 1934. Also included on the Artificial Eye DVD is his earlier short Zéro de conduite which was banned for years in France. An anarchic tale of kids taking over a boarding school. You can see how much Truffaut picked up from here and it was a direct influence on the 60s Lindsay Anderson film If. Vigo died young and L'Atalante was his only complete feature."

Fun, cozy, casual game
This was a very simple to learn, sometimes funny, sometimes weird, casual and cozy game. I'd compare it to Katamari, but instead of rolling up a big ball, you're sucking objects into a hole, which gets larger the more it collects. There is a bit of a puzzle aspect to it, and the story is really fun. These kinds of games are super satisfying to me! I played this recently using Xbox Gamepass so it may still be available on there. I just wish it were a bit longer, but otherwise I was impressed.

"The nonfictional account of Mary McCarthy's idyllic childhood, cut short by the death of her parents. McCarthy was orphaned by the influenza epidemic that followed WWI; both of her parents died in a flash. She was then raised by her grandparents in Seattle. The wonderful thing she does in the book is to tell what happened, and then to write about what might have happened. It takes 'memoir' to a whole other level. It gives you a shot of adrenaline; it makes you ask yourself, 'What was the transformational moment in my life when my story really begins?'"

Sweden's bestselling author Karolina Ramqvist brings us a story touted as a powerful novel of "betrayal and empowerment." This short but complex study centers around how one woman, alone and lonely, is forced to grab at anything she can that might pull her out of abject despair after her criminal boyfriend abandons her with a newborn baby, with no money or prospects and the looming loss of her home. You can read what I thought of Ramqvist's latest novel, "The White City," in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2017/05/20/harsh-reality-with-a-sweet-dream/

Once I put my other books aside and concentrated on this I found it a really easy read; the chapters are short and there is always something to keep you interested.

I really enjoyed it.

I think without that Epilogue, it could have been a stand alone story but because of it, I understand more about it being a trilogy. I believed that end bit! I was feeling quite happy and relieved for the Gladers. More fool me!

I have the second and third book but I'm not going to read them just yet, maybe when I get back off holiday

Decent Horror
An ok Horror based on a short Stephen King story. Definitely has the hallmarks of a Stephen King creation. Very atmospheric in the first half, creepy while playing on the fear of those dark spaces when the lights are out. The creature, when you finally see it, does look scary. Although I think most will spot early on some clues as to how it will pan out. A few too many jump scares as well, most of which you can see coming. Still an enjoyable film overall.
