Sarah (7800 KP) rated Tolkien (2019) in Movies

My main problem with this film is that whilst it is new in the sense it's the first film about Tolkien, the general storyline itself has been done to death. How many films have come out about authors/famous people that fall in love, go to war etc? I can name a few that I've seen just in the past year and it's all getting a bit old. This is probably the worst as it doesn't really tell us much, it barely even alludes to Tolkien's most famous work and instead drags out his early years with barely any heart. Even his fellowship with his friends could have been better handled. Admittedly the acting was quite good and I liked the war scenes that were interspersed with dark figures and dragons, but I'm not entirely convinced at how true any of this actually is.
Less than an hour in, I was itching to check the time on my watch which is never a good sign.

I absolutely LOVED this book! It pulled me in from the beginning, and I would've read it all in one sitting if I hadn't started it so late in the evening and needed sleep!! Still, I finished it the next day, and I desperately need the next one. I laughed, I cried, I thought back to how I felt during my first "real" relationship, and I pondered what I would do if I had to deal with the types of things that Willow and her friends see on a daily basis. I honestly don't think I could, and that's what pulled me into the story so much: The fact that these teenagers are having to live through this world, losing their family members to a virus, or having to leave them on the outside while they survive in this shelter. The relationships, whether just friends or otherwise, are exactly how I remember my teenage relationships (friendly, kinda awkward, but definitely "real" and "true", as much as they can be at that age), and I can't wait to see how they continue into the next book!!!
5 stars all the way!! =)

Honestly, this was probably not a book I would have bought for myself upon first glance, as I would have probably thought it too technical for my liking. However, I'm definitely glad I won the giveaway and was given the opportunity to read it, as it was fascinating and educational, as well, for someone who admits to having no knowledge of the stock market (or much of the cutthroat corporate business world) whatsoever. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good suspense thriller and mystery, or those involved in the types of business described throughout. They might find it a little enlightening. =)

My reasons for not giving this device a perfect score are minor. You need to tap the face of the device to turn the screen on and flip through the various screens (time, steps, heart rate, etc), and it's kind of finicky and doesn't always engage when I tap, if I don't do it just right. The brightness doesn't compete with a sunny day, so it can be hard to read in that environment. Otherwise, I think it's great and I'm really happy with it.

It is something so unique it wouldn't be believed if it wasn't true. This in itself is such an interesting premise but it's full of so many twists and turns by the end you're head is spinning.
The story is gripping, at times I thought I'm tired maybe here will be a good time to pause, go to sleep and start back up tomorrow but I couldn't switch it off. It makes you go from confusion, anger, sadness and rage in such a small amount of time.
What makes this so heartbreaking is that not only is it true, it is something I believe every person should watch. It touches on subjects that happen in peoples everyday lives and aren't talked about enough.
I sincerely hope people will watch this, appreciate these courageous men for their pure strength and if the story they tell is similar to something in your life, it will help you open up too.
