"Deer Hunter — the human experience was just so pointed; their journeys were so difficult, as life is sometimes. I remember after seeing it, walking down the street — I actually went with a girl on a date and saw The Deer Hunter, and we left the theater and walked for like an hour and nobody said anything; we were just kind of stunned about that."

Rushed but thrilling

This is thrilling and a real page turner but it did feel rushed in places. I like the main character and found the use of the term mother quite haunting.

Sometimes the dialogue felt repetitive and was used over the top when building tension.

Having said that, I couldn't put it down and enjoyed the story.

"I'm probably going to get in trouble for this but American Dad is one of my favourite shows. It gets very dark in places but the jokes are there. Sometimes it's really subtle - there is one with a black leprechaun [O'Shamus McPherson] where a mosquito bites him and he says, "Ugh, they love me". It was such a weird joke, like something my uncle would say."

"Brilliant melody. Lovely, swishy swashy song. Again, the lyrics are a bit cheesy, and sometimes you get the impression with Axl Rose that there's a really American 80s high school drama thing going on. All my mates were sucked into those Molly Ringwald films. We were all brought up on them, and some of the lyrics remind me of that. It's a really good tune."

I was thinking of taking a break from movie reviews due to my local Cineworld closing thursday. When I joined smashbomb two years ago it was to share my love of movies and now due to covid 19 I feel sometimes what's the point anymore. Don't worry I'm not leaving which I would never doo there's plenty of reviews still to come from me .
