Rebecca Billcliff (2409 KP) rated The Twilight Saga (Twilight, #1-4) in Books
Nov 18, 2019
The way the world is explained is pretty good, and allows the story to realy flow. All the characters are interesting, often flawed and draw you in. The general themes as well as the juxtaposition of totally normal teenage crap, like meeting the boyfriend's family, and the danger faced by the characters is sometimes farcical, but no less compelling because of it.
The story feels complete, the characters develop, and Bella becomes less of an ass.
It was a lovely read, and I am looking forward to diving back in, a decade later, to see if I still feel the same.
Nick Beaty (70 KP) rated Happy Death Day (2017) in Movies
Dec 11, 2019 (Updated Dec 11, 2019)
The film is basically Groundhog Day meets Scream. With the main character reliving the same day over and over, after being killed in lots of different ways on the same night.
The thing I liked about Happy Death Day is, it knows exactly what it is and doesn't try to be something it isn't. It doesn't take itself seriously at all and plays along with the fact that it is very much a comedy horror.
If you are very serious about your horror films, then this one might not be for you. However if you are looking for a movie that is just an easy watch, then Happy Death Day is a pretty decent choice.
Chloe (778 KP) rated Dobble - Harry Potter version in Tabletop Games

The game has 5 different mini games which are all very fun. Each card has several different characters or objects on it and these have to be matched with various paired cards.
The game is very easy to pick up with simple instructions for all the mini games. It would suit all types of people/family members even those without prior Harry Potter knowledge. The different icons are depicted within the instructions with names.
We spent quite some time playing this game eventhough each game is fairly short. Its addictive and much harder than the description sounds.
Sometimes you have the flow of things and blast through several pairs. Other times you are stumped and cant pick out any difference between the cards.

I loved this graphic novel, I believe it to be an incredible important read. Those comparing it to The Hate U Give is doing this novel injustice. This is just as impactful without the 400+ pages. The message gets across to the reader in the same way I know a lot of teens that would not sit and read that but may pick up a graphic novel.
The art style I really enjoyed though sometimes it did make a scene hard to understand. I also enjoyed the changing of timeline. We followed a lot of characters but the important one's stand out and don't seem to get lost in all the movement of the story.
