Beautiful and haunting
First off, you've got to see this in the theater if you're going to see it. The sparse lunar and Martian vistas, not to mention the star-strewn expanses of space, will be so much less impressive on your living room television. The cast is amazing, though there's not nearly enough Tommy Lee Jones or Donald Sutherland. The tone is haunting and uncomfortable, aided by a subdued score that at times seems to pay tribute to the soundless vacuum in which parts of the film are set. The science is up to date, in that it accurately reflects the fact that after getting sidetracked for a decade or four, we're back to using rockets to explore the solar system. The plot is at heart an exploration of humanity, our needs, drives, relationships and obsessive stubbornness, and dips somewhat into questions of sanity and mental health, again sometimes uncomfortably, though the slow-burn pacing is not for everyone. There are occasional action sequences, but they often feel disconnected and shoehorned in. The ending was a little anti-climactic, and I'm not entirely sure it actually happened - it's barely a spoiler to suggest that the protagonist is in danger as the ending nears, and everything that follows his return to Earth could easily be a dream or dying hallucination (and in fact if argue that this would be a stronger ending). The voiceover was a bit awkward, and would have benefitted from an in-story justification such as the character journalling or leaving a sealed log of some sort. Basically, I think it was worth seeing, but it's not going to be for everyone.

Have played this album on repeat all year
I stumbled up on this album on Spotify when I should have been doing uni work. The plan was to find a band I didn't know and listen to them so I had some background noise and I wouldn't get distracted. Unfortunately it took a few loops off this album to realise, I was dancing in the chair more than typing words to a page.

So, Tonight Alive are a band from Australia and the album also features other artists, one well known one being the lead singer of Slipknot and although I'm not a fan of Slipknot, boy can that guy sing well in the track "Underworld" I beautiful ballad.

At the time of first binging this album, I was suffering with sciatica and the track "Temple" was fun to listen to because hey my body IS a temple and "why does it hurt like hell?" The album has a range of tracks from get up on your feet and hop around shaking your head (unless you have sciatica or a slipped disc) to the ones where you will happily push out a ballad in almost perfect harmony while have a shower.

I wish I had listened to this band in my younger days where sciatica wasn't an issue but alas, it has been my go-to album... Even when I start to drift a way, I find myself putting this one back on while doing the school run. It has gotten to a point where my kids know the words to the songs. The songs are written with such poetry, filled will beautiful imagery that makes me sometimes question my descriptive work but yes, this band is so talented and I hope one day I get to see them live.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When I was offered this it was described as being like 50 Shades of Grey and the Crossfire series. Having liked both of these I thought I’d give it a go. In a way it was like them: young girl meets wealthy business man and can’t deny the sexual attraction. Unfortunately for me, it didn’t quite measure up. It didn’t draw me in straight away.

In fact, it took me a while to get into it. That might have been down to Gustav’s attitude and the fact he wasn’t very good at explaining what he wanted. It put me off a bit, I guess, and I couldn’t always understand the attraction. Serena, too, was a bit of a puzzle. The way she reacted sometimes; though that could probably be put down to her age.

After finishing the story I’ve been left with some questions. Why wouldn’t Gustav kiss her until near the end? Why did he with-hold from having sex with her for so long? What sort of lifestyle were Gustav and his wife involved with before? And why were Serena’s “parents” so horrible to her?

I suppose since this is the first in the trilogy that we will get answers to some of these in the following books. If I’m honest, I’m not sure if I’d be interested in continuing the series, though that ending has most definitely whetted my appetite.

Overall it was a god story that kept me wondering where it was heading but for me, having read 50 Shades and the Crossfire series, it just didn’t quite do it for me.

That being said, don’t dismiss a book without at least trying it for yourself first.

Almost faultless
I was very much looking forward to the release of Borderlands 3 and honestly.....it only fell short ever so slightly

Firstly, the negatives......the slit screen is not the greatest. As a game series I play with my boyfriend, I was very happy to hear that number 3 would include the split screen play but have been left a bit disappointed. The split screen only comes is horizontal play, which can make some of the enemies hard to see, some controls off, and very hard to see your own menu.

Secondly, the subtitles, menu etc are all horrendously small. You can make it bigger but not by very much.

I really do hope that Gearbox fix these in their updates as I have seen online that a lot of other people aren't happy with these issues.

Up and on to the positives! The game itself is BEA-U-TIFUL. The graphics are very well done. The new characters are great too. There is SO many more weapons to find and it's much easier to gain experience and get good weapons.

Some of the quests are hard just because the sheer number of bad guys you have to kill and with the weird split screen, which likes to lag sometimes, but once you get used to it, your skill set is back up.

If you are a fan of Borderlands, I would very much still recommend you play 3. It is very much a classic Borderlands game and is very fun to play, also a great added bonus is Claptrap isn't as annoying as he is in the first two games.
