Classic musical of the era
Claude Bukowski leaves Oklahoma for New York after being drafted to the army for Vietnam... He joins a hippie group of youngsters led by Berger, he
soon falls in love with Sheila before leaving the group for his new life in the army..

A great soundtrack with some memorable songs, backed up with some spectacular dance routines and settings make this a film you can enjoy more than once... It may have dated a bit over the years but the same can be said for some of the classic era musicals...

The initial feeling of annoyance that Berger left me with soon vanished and you do warm to the three main characters and to some extent the lesser members of the group...

It is a film about fun, freedom and most of all friendship and what you would do for your friends... I'm guessing the stage play it was based on was more of an anti war play, but the impression I got, maybe because so long has elapsed since it was written, is one of live for the moment, enjoy yourself while you can because you never know what is around the corner in life...

A great musical where the music shines
This was a great movie and went well beyond my expectations. I have watched this many times now and still love it.

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are both fantastic and work well together. The songs are so good and catchy and convinced me to go get the soundtrack and am listening to it as i write this. It also convinced me to look into jazz which i never thought to listen to before. This movie feels like a love letter to that genre of music. This movie is all about the music and i loved every second of every song.

It is a romance story you have seen before but they sfill find a way to make if feel fresh and different with an ending not really expected. I think throughtout this movie i felt every emotion there is.

The movie was shot beautifully and in a way you could be convinced this was filmed either now or many years ago. There is an old fashioned feeling about this movie which i loved.

It may not be for everyone but i can recommend it for a musical fan. I never expected to enjoy it as much as i did.

A decent Transformers film for a change
I dont really know much about the original Transformers other than a vague recollection of watching the cartoon as a child. However for once we actually have a decent Transformers films on our hands - just goes to show what you can achieve without Michael Bay at the helm.

This is a fairly good 80s buddy style film, it reminded me a lot of ET which I suppose isn't a surprise seen as Spielberg has had some involvement in this too. Hailee Steinfeld is always charismatic and endearing in any film she's in and her character's sweet relationship with Bee really makes this film. And the 80s soundtrack is marvellous. It's amazing what a good soundtrack can do for a film. But don't get me wrong this film isn't perfect. John Cena for starters really can't act and should never be cast in anything, Charlie's family and story are ridiculously cliched and the plot itself drags a little especially during the middle and it's beyond predictable. This however is a million times better than the other over complicated action messes that were the other Transformers films, although as much as it's a fairly fun and entertaining film, it's a prequel we didn't necessarily need to see.

"Like I mentioned I love the desert. I have a video somewhere of my wife and I listening to this record driving in Joshua Tree. It really does sound like how it looks. To be honest, I knew of the soundtrack long before I saw the film. And that's how it is for me with a lot of Morricone scores. I went through a deep Morricone phase in my twenties, and just any soundtrack he ever did I bought. The movie's already there – you can see it. And I bet he would agree too – a lot of his music is far more cinematic than the films he's actually scored. He has this intense visual element to his music which is always exciting to hear. So that record in particular, I remember I first heard it in my twenties and it really blew my mind. The production – the fact that it is so produced – sure it's a recording from the 60s or something. But it is a studio album. So you hear him getting really great sounding recordings in some old-school microphone (old-school now). Really getting such a rich, beautiful sound. And then you get that fuzz effect, which is just quintessential Morricone sound, probably because of this record."

"John Barry is probably my number one, I got him to play Meltdown when I did that. I was trying to get him to play more obscure stuff from his catalogue but he wasn't into it at that point in his life. I like this album because you've got his soundtrack stuff and then you've got songs like 'Old Man Willow' that sound like Broadcast. Soundtracks don't always work as albums because they tend to repeat the theme so much that they're not that exciting to listen to, but this one doesn't do that. I think there's one song I'm not that bothered of, 'He Quit Me' at the end of side one, but it just works as an album. There was a record shop in Sheffield called Rare & Racey that only closed down a couple of years ago, you could get pretty cheap second hand records and I picked this up there and played it to death. It probably did have an influence on Pulp, I really liked the sound of it. It's not so much on this record but he used a dulcimer on The Ipcress Files soundtrack, and that definitely influenced the Pulp song 'I Spy', there was a definite attempt to make it sound like that in the background. As a lover of monster movies I have to say that this movie was good. I loved the fact the this is a home grown US monster. I had never heard of any of the actors and actresses except Lizzie Caplan. I have to say that they did a good job. A found footage monster with a story that affected so many people at once. A mysterious creature attacks New York City for some unknown reason. The movie follows a group of friends that are affected by the attack of "Clover". The attack leads to a residual affect of events that cause catastrophic problems for the group. The movie tells a nice story that is actually believable. The camera shots at times are a little shaky; so if you are prone to motion sickness then this movie may not be for you. If you don't like movies without happy endings then this also isn't the movie for you. A soundtrack makes a movie for me but with this movie....there is no soundtrack and it worked. A perilous journey with a monster. As Siskel and Ebert would say...I give this movie two thumbs up

Perry Larkin (8 KP) rated Riverdale in TV

Gossip Girl meets 90210. Watching the first few episodes I saw every stereotype and High School TV show expectation splashed across the screen. Then I realized that the show itself knows that and starts making fun of itself. It is when I realized they weren't taking it too seriously, that I got serious about the show. Then the show gets darker and darker and actually becomes a contender for good TV. Thank you Josie and the Pussycats for the fun soundtrack addition. While Archie and Jughead fight over Betty and Veronica, I'm not sure if I'm lusting over Archie, Jughead or Kevin.

I just feel it was missing a back story. Like how did earth become this way? Why were the species segregated in a sense? I felt like we were just thrown in a story with no context. (0 more)
Good but missing something
Overall the movie was pretty good. The characters, the main ones at least, held my attention for the duration of the film. There weren't any dead spots. But I would have loved to have had a back story. They need to really make a prequel to explain why this version of the world exists.
