It’s a movie I’d been waiting to see since Netflix starting teasing us with the trailer, so last night I sat down to watch the almost two and half hours of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead!

I have to say that after the introduction in the film on how the zombies first took over Las Vegas I absolutely loved the opening credits with the slow-motion action, amazing soundtrack and the pink lettering that really stood out on the screen, the style of the opening reminded me of a video game which is no bad thing as it certainly got me intrigued on how the film would play out through the two and half hours.

A terrifying yet emotional masterpiece.

After many years of wanting to see this film, and building up my expectations, today I finally saw it, and was far from disappointed.

This Raymond Briggs' feature length animation tells the tale of an elderly couple (voiced by Sir John Mills and Dane Peggy Ashcroft) in the country trying to survive in the aftermath of a nuclear strike, with only the real life UK nuclear survival pamphlet "Protect and Survive" to help them.

This film is not for the faint of heart, and realistically should probably not have a PG rating, as the couples experiences with radiation sickness are rather graphic and are more than likely to upset younger audiences (it upset me, and I'm 26!).

The animation is beautiful, as it is with every Raymond Briggs' film, but with a difference as it does often mix stop-motion and classic animation to make something quite haunting and very special, with other "special sequences" reminiscent of Pink Floyd's The Wall.

And last but not least: the soundtrack. With a title track performed by David Bowie, you already know it's going to be good. But the score (written by Roger Waters of Pink Floyd) is also incredible, yet again very reminiscent of Pink Floyd's "Goodbye Blue Sky"...again from "The Wall". With additional music by Squeeze, Paul Hardcastle and Hugh Cornwell, this makes it a pleasure to listen to.

Overall, an aural, visual and emotional rollercoaster, but not for the faint hearted.

Remember those last few words, not for the faint hearted!

Almost the perfect horror movie!
This film is basically a horror masterpiece, with it's only downside being some of the worst movie punches I've ever seen near the ending. These are barely worth mentioning but this is the only downside I could find apart from all the clichés, which this movie invented anyway, so you can hardly count that against it!

The story is of course typical, but with a little bit of a science-fiction element I wasn't aware of, so that was a nice surprise! But it is worth mentioning the small, enclosed setting which makes the film all that much scarier and makes it a genuinely frightening movie.

All of the actors played their parts to perfection, and the perfect blend of different character traits among the 6 main characters provides the film with another layer of horror.

The soundtrack is beautiful. An unusual score consisting of strings, horns and synthesisers, all at different times. It is reminiscent of 1950s and early 1960s Kaiju films.

Finally, the ending. The ending is a masterpiece, and certainly not the typical zombie ending. I'll leave it there to leave the "surprise" intact.

Overall, apart from the aforementioned punches, a total masterpiece, and I can't wait to watch Dawn of the Dead when it arrives!

P.S. The original quality of the film is quite poor, but the 4K remaster is stunning, so I definitely recommend the Criterion Collection 4K remaster as the film quality is dramatically improved.

Main story revolves around Peter finding his dad. Also, Peter accepts that the thing he has been searching for far and wide (the whole galaxy), has been there all along right beside him and after losing that he appreciated what he had and he comes to term with the loss. There is a side story of a long standing sisterly rivalry between Gamora and Nebula, which sort of resolves; they find that they do care about each other. Always have. Groot is cute as ever and Rocket accepts that, yes, he does care for the team and that he does have a heart. Drax is...Drax. The new addition (Mantis) is innocent (like baby Groot).

It was all the words I put in the heading of my rating. I loved Andrew Garfield in it as the main character. I think he did an AMAZING job playing the role of Desmond T Doss. It is rated R but I really liked it. I was leery about it because it's rated R, which I am about ALL rated R movies but I really enjoyed it. Sam Worthington is also in it. He plays the lead male character in AVATAR. I think he did a really good job in it too. It also stars Teresa Palmer who is also in The Choice. Overall, I really enjoyed it! I would watch it again AND HAVE!

Awesome movie
The guest is an extremely underrated movie in my opinion because it delivers everything you want from a thriller/horror and then more added on. It's a really great movie with a lot of mystery going on and throughout the movie more is learned in a clever way, it is a very clever and well made movie with nothing really wrong with it.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about it and think that most people will too but it just needs more recognition from everyone so go and watch it !
