David McK (3791 KP) rated Fallout Season 2 in TV

Fallout Season 2
Fallout Season 2
2025 |
Season 2 of Amazon's Fallout adaptation, that picks up from where Season 1 left off, and with Lucy McClean now searching for her father for very different reasons than before whilst the Ghoul continues his search for his family and whilst Maximus is back with the Brotherhood of Steel, and whilst more intrigue and secrets come to light amongst the vault dwellers.

That sounds like quite a lot.

Which, to its credit, the show manages to spin seemingly effortlessly, again contrasting the 'now' with flashbacks to the past (and the Ghoul's former life), before the bombs dropped.

I've never played the games, so I can't say how closely it sticks, but I do have to say - for all that - this is thoroughly enjoyable, and mostly welcoming to newcomers (although they will need to have watched season 1 first).

Off Base (Out of Uniform #1) by Annabeth Albert
Off Base is the first book in the Out of Uniform series. I double-checked the synopsis as it didn't feel like the first book, only to see it was a spin-off from the #Gaymers series! Now I have another series to catch up on ;)

Zack is an all-macho good guy, determined to make his deeply religious parents proud. His brother is basically a deadbeat, so he feels the pressure to be perfect. Pike is a friend of a friend, and someone who riles Zack up in all the ways he doesn't want to acknowledge. So be prepared for snarkiness and sparks between these two.

This was a wonderful introduction to this series, showing out Zack thinks he has to fight every battle alone. Seriously, you think he'd know better, but his fears have their place, and are very real to him. Pike helps him where he can, but isn't prepared to hide who he is. I absolutely love these two, so young, so unsure, and yep, so HOT!

There is romance, angst, pain, steam, and a multitude of other emotions between these pages. With no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, I absolutely recommend this book. An absolute blast of a start to the series, and I can't wait to read more.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

A Law Enforcement Thrill Ride
This book is a spin off of another series that Sherryl D. Hancock writes but slightly different in that the primary characters are not lesbians. That said you will see some of those characters in this book because all is intertwined in the world Hancock creates.

This is the in depth introduction to Midnight Chevalier. As always Hancock does a fantatstic job creating characters and Midnight does not disappoint as the tough, no nonsense female protagonist. There is more violence in this book but that is indicitive of the life Midnight lives. It is also what you would expect from this character and her motley crew of unlikely heros.

I love everything Hancock writes because she focuses on allowing the character drive the story and her characters are amazingly developed. I have already recommended the MidKnight Blue series to friends who love crime stories and romance and action andjust good writing. Pretty much anyone who likes to read.

I have watched this anime on Netflix a few times and now own the box set on DVD. It has made me laugh, cry, root for a mass murderer (rest in peace Barry the Chopper) and yell "WHAT THE F***!!"

The two most heart wrenching moments in this series for me is Ed screaming for Al to come back and sacrificing a limb to get his baby brothers soul back and the moment the little girl turns into a chimera. "Daddy play?" Always makes me tear up.

In the end Ed and Al get their happy ending, with Ed and Winry getting married and having kids. It's a true testament as tongow much Ed loves Al by the fact he gave up his alchemy to save his brother.

Happy endings might seem a tad cliche but if any characters in any universe deserved it, it was the Elric brothers

Would like to see a spin off tho with Roy mustang and his crew!!!

Fourth entry in Jack Campbell/John Hemrys spin-off series from 'The Lost Fleet' series (and I've lost count of what entry number this is in total), this is set back in what-used-to-be Syndicate Space, with The Syndicate themselves (as always) coming across as Stalin-era Soviets.

While they do put in an appearance, they're not actually the maion threat in this entry - rather, that is provided in the form of the alien Enigmas who, previous novels have shown, are to blame for the centuries-long war between The Alliance and The Syndicate and who, in this, are pushing into/trying to gain a toe-hold on a planet that falls with Human space.

All of which is a long way of saying: more of the same; more political machinations, space battles (in 'real-time' (as it were), and more ground battles.

A bit of a guilty pleasure, in short.

Before watching this film, I thought it was a spin-off to the Bad Mom's film series, I did not realise it is actually the sequel to the original film. I was a bit dubious as to how this movie would entertain, as most sequels tend to be worse than the original. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the Christmas version as it bested the first film. In my opinion, the comedy was top-notch (no surprise considering the immense cast). I would definitely recommend this film, though please take note of the age certification - it is 15 for a reason! I don't think you need to have seen the first film in order to watch this sequel. I couldn't remember the content first film despite remembering watching it at the cinema with my mum. There's only one small scene which ties the first film into it but you get the gist of what happened.
