Rachel Howser Roberts (96 KP) rated The Rules of Magic in Books

Better than the original
I love backstories, and this one didn’t disappoint! This was an excellent prequel that explored the heartbreak that shaped the aunts from Practical Magic. It was an excellent stand-alone novel, even if you haven’t read Practical Magic. I felt like the ending was a little rushed, and I couldn’t figure out the timeline. Regina was born in 1961, but her daughters were adults in the 1990s (assuming Practical Magic takes place when it was written).

Ive got a jar o' dirt!
So I'm a huge fan of the POTC films, I felt this is the last of a trilogy of the franchise, any afterwards stand alone. It has it's moments of frivolity that fit in well (like the moment in my heading) it doesn't feel forced.
I absolutely love the ending, it is both satisfying and bittersweet but it was genuinely a natural progression of the three films together.

Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated The Dark Bones in Books
Aug 20, 2019
This follow up to A Dark Lure did not disappoint. Set in the same area, it revisits a few characters from the debut but is almost entirely a stand alone novel. It was exciting and thrilling, just like it’s predecessor. The characters were well rounded and had the depth and realism that make a great novel. I wish the “initial” case had been delved into a bit deeper but I was very happy with the story and all its components. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) in Movies
Aug 18, 2020
While at times rather action packed, I do feel like this movie is the slowest moving of the franchise, while also leaving the most to be desired.
Visuals are stunning. And to be frank, quite a bit of the slowness in the story had to happen in order to explain things that previously happened and things that were at the time yet to happen.
While a decent stand alone movie, I do feel like it left some meat on the bone that I still long for.

Surprisingly inspiring for young ladies (2 more)
Beautifully satirical look at the impact of war on small communities
Terry Pratchett's amazing sense of humour
Re-readable again and again!
I love this book to Death. It's one of my go to reads because it's so easy to relate to the characters, to have a good laugh and to still have a deep think about the world all at once. It's easier to follow than a lot of Discworld novels and is a stand alone story so give it a go!
