Shaun Collins (3 KP) rated Star Wars: Lando in Books
Jan 11, 2018
A rollicking "Ocean's 11" style caper with the likable Lando at it's lead. What's not to like? Great characterization and matching art. This has been the most solid of the Star Wars mini series Marvel has launched since the Disney acquisition. (At least that I've read so far.) I understand it was trimmed down from a planned 8 or 10 issue arc to 5, and that's a same, because the finale does feel a bit truncated, but still well worth your time!

Jenny Houle (24 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) in Movies

I can't put into words how inspiring this movie felt to me. I feel like I have heard one of two reactions to the movie: "It's just another Star Wars movie at this point" and "OMG, didn't you love it? Didn't you feel like it was a reminder of hope? Didn't you feel like it was a reminder to resist?", and the reactions come from two very specific types of people.
Also, who can resist the little penguin-type animals? Really? Adorable.

Erika (17789 KP) rated Tarkin in Books
Apr 21, 2018
This is one of the best books to come out of the new canon. Grand Moff Tarkin is one of my favorite characters from the Star Wars universe, and I was glad that he got his own book. Tarkin was raised on a rural, rough planet, and it's definitely a big part of who Tarkin is. Tarkin is also aware of who Darth Vader is, as the Emperor had them working together prior to Anakin turning to the dark side.

Mary Poppins Returns (2018) is an exercise in Lucasian poetry #Review
George Lucas once claimed that the many repetitive instances in the Star Wars prequel trilogy were deliberate ‘poetry’, rhyming with the original trilogy and so it is with this second Mary Poppins film. Having soothed its corporate conscience with “Saving Mr Banks”, Disney returns to the works of P L Travers to produce a checkbox musical which follows the template of the first movie to a fault...

Bostonian916 (449 KP) rated Willow (1988) in Movies
Aug 3, 2020 (Updated Aug 3, 2020)
Willow is a wonderful example of what was possible in the wild west Hollywood that we were blessed with in the 1980's, Val Kilmer performs in what is probably the defining role of his career as Madmardigan, an antihero among antiheroes. Warwick Davis finally gets to SHOW his acting chops (he previously acted as an Ewok, Wickett, in Star Wars) and is most definitely up to the task.
Anybody in the mood for a wildly different adventure will enjoy this classic.
