A decent enough tale of survival based on true events as 3 people are stranded when attacked by a crocodile. It's ok but a lil too long and the interest starts to go after a while. Only so much tension you can build about people stuck in a tree avoiding a crocodile!

This is 'Bridging' Star Wars tale, collecting issues numbers 56-61 of the main Star Wars line, set after the events of 'Hope Dies' but before The Empire Strikes Back.

Scattered across the galaxy following their defeat by the Empire (and betrayal by Queen Trios of Shu-Torun), this finds Luke, Leia and Han stranded on a planet cut off for the outside world, with only limited communication and contact with that galaxy (so not quite like being stranded on Earth!).

Cue an increasing impatient Luke looking for ways off the planet while also falling for his host's daughter, Han and Leia growing increasingly close, and a little bit of Wild West thrown in before (eventually) they are tracked down by The Empire and make their escape once more ...

If you want a book where Vader is just doing Vader things with Palpatine, look no further. Vader and Palpatine are stranded on a planet with a rebellion (led by Hera's father). Vader is still being tested by Palpatine, and the dynamic of their relationship is an interesting one. Mostly, because they inevitably know that the apprentice kills the master to become the master.

"If I was really stranded on a desert island, this novel would be good to have. The movie is also good, but the book would help to pass more time. Both make surviving on a desert island seem like a walk in the park. What’s great about this adventure—which I find rare in pop culture—is the celebration of the mind, invention, and science."

When a sarcastic botanist is trapped on Mars
This was pretty hilarious, much more humorous than expected even after watching the film. The story follows American astronaut Mark Watney, as he becomes stranded alone on Mars in the year 2035 and must improvise in order to survive. As a botanist and engineer, he's able to think on his feet - and much of the science sounds incredibly plausible, explained in great detail.

But the best part is Watney's alter-personality from being logical and organised, to being extremely witty and sarcastic. All the while surviving on godforsaken potatoes. There are also snapshots of how his other crew members are managing, and how earth is following his progress as he becomes the face of primetime TV. It's a race against time.

All I know is that if you're ever stranded on a desert island, you'll definitely need to bring a botanist engineer space pirate with you.

Sophie Arundel is stranded in history, stuck in a grand house in 1925 England. Thankfully, she has her faithful dog with her. Oh, and fellow student Hugo: fit, privileged, and annoying.

Baffled by upper-class rules, courted by boring suitors, Sophie is desperate to get back to the twenty-first century. But the only way home is through a hidden portal — and to unlock its secrets, she must work with Hugo.

As one clue leads to another, Sophie and Hugo discover that history is unfolding differently. Mobs rule the streets. And when chaos turns into a deadly revolution, anyone in a grand house is fair game.

Sophie and Hugo are running out of time…

It was good I enjoyed it I’m a huge fan of this kind of time travel especially to a time I really am fascinated with. I’m looking forward to book 2.

Quite a heartwarming film that will have you routing for him
Good Sfx for the spaceship
A quality film
I did worry that this film about being stranded and left behind on Mars would be slow and boring. I need not have worried. It has some nice light hearted moments and is quite funny at times. Matt Damon gives an awesome performance that will have you willing him on.

Great film
This is Ridley Scott's best film in years. Considering it's about one man stranded on Mars, it's surprisingly interesting, full of humour and intrigue. Matt Damon puts in a great performance holding a lot of the film on his own, although the supporting cast are fantastic too. It has a really good soundtrack and is also very close to the original book by Andy Weir. One of the best films of 2015.
