I'm In Love
I just wasn't expecting much from this film at all. We put it on for my little girl because she loves superheroes, and I honestly thought "here we go, some strong woman feminist statement, how cliched". Oh how wrong I was.

I was absolutely enthralled. The "wide-eyed innocence" of Gal Godot when she ventured out into the wider world could have been so overdone, but I thought she played it perfectly. Her character was one you could sympathise with and care for - so much so, I may have even shed a tear or two for her, which was something I certainly didn't expect (I kind of wanted to hate her because I expected the film to be so rubbish!).

It's definitely a film I'd happily watch again. I think I enjoyed it more than my daughter or husband!!

Captain Marvel is not a superhero I am familiar with, but with a free Kindle Unlimited trial and an upcoming movie about her, I thought I should give it a try.
Some really good artwork here, being slightly cartoony in nature but not too twee. Some good interaction with Guardians of the Galaxy.
But in general, just a bit flimsy and dull. A lot of the book falls into Phantom Menace-esque international trade tariff discussions which take up quite a large proportion of the page count.
I don't feel like this really shows off one of the most powerful superheroes in all their glory, rather being a strong independent woman sorting things out through political discussion and diplomacy before eventually resorting to her powers. While this was right for the story being told, I found it a boring one. I may not be the target market for this.

A dip in quality
The 5th volume of The Boys sees the world's superheroes take time out, while pretending to be fighting an intergalactic war (similar to the secret invasion), and head off to a remote island for days of extreme sex, drugs and an awards ceremony. Herogasm being the name for this mini-festival of debauchery.
There are some smirks here, mainly aimed at the Fantastic 4, and what they might get up to in private, but the joke is a little laboured over the 6 issues.
I think a key learn for me is that if Darick Robertson didn't ink it, you can probably skip it (he seems to avoid the issues that are heavier on the sex). While there is a little about the corporate corruption and the 9/11 conspiracy, and a naughty attack by Black Noir, this story is somewhat throwaway.

I was so looking forward to this movie as black widow it one of my favourite superheroes, but I found it to be quite disappointing for a Marvel movie.

The film starts off great with a good backstory that tugs on your heartstrings.

Once the movie moved on from the backstory I found it to be very rushed and was a little confused as to what was going on.

I felt like three quarters of the film were just action scenes which yes are important in action movies, but it felt like too much of the movie was put into the action and not enough in the story which made it hard to get invest in the characters.

Overall the film was ok and enjoyable but I don’t plan to watch it again any time soon.
