Mekkin B. (122 KP) rated Wynonna Earp - Season 1 in TV

Wynonna Earp is a hard drinking, hard living 27 year old. She's the black sheep and the town fuck-up. She's spent years avoiding her family and her responsibilities, but when she finally returns to her home town of Purgatory, she finds that she can't outrun the family curse.
Now, if she ever hopes to break the curse and save her family, she must battle the seventy seven revenants of the Ghost River Triangle and send them back to hell. But at least she doesn't have to do it alone.
If you've been dying to find an at least decently written fantasy/supernatural TV show with witty dialogue and compelling relationships, this one is definitely for you.
Also if you're like me and will watch anything that has adorable and fully fleshed out lesbian relationships, this one is also for you. Wynonna's younger sister Wavery and the dashing town deputy are SO GAY in the BEST possible way.

And on that note, the first section of this book was probably the best. A great reflection on the ideals and struggles of adolescence with a hearty mix of emotion and the ties that bind us.
What followed was a slog of a read. It was nice to follow the threads of connection between the original three friends through the years but most of the time it was just a chore.
It seems as though I always struggle when King's work that veers from the supernatural or strange. He meanders around with unnecessary details and where it matters, leaves too much unsaid.
Another mediocre one for me.

This supernatural suspense story soon reveals, Reaper's not male as tradition has it, but a bad ass, smart mouthed female, who is half vampire and half werewolf! She inhabits an alternative reality world. Other characters have weird names that bear no relation to their species or origins, but even so, they all live together in a land where all the houses are, (by law) uniform in size and style - again no giveaway to the residents' identities.
This novella (only 140 pages long), has a shockingly crucial cliff-hanger, it's my advice to buy all 3 books to discover the story-line's ending. An interesting idea for a plot, though am not quite sure when/how it will end. If you enjoy the Anita Blake series this is akin to it.
(Novella 2 is The Silent Song).
