Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Remember Me in Books
Feb 17, 2018
Noelle Winters does a good job creating a sense of suspense in [Remember Me]. The plot centers around Katy who's daughter was kidnapped three years ago. Suddenly the case is refreshed by a picture of her daughter being sent to her. The FBI sends Alex to liason with local law enforcement and the family on this case that her father originally worked. These two broken women find friendship and hope within each other.
The plot of this takes some unexpected twists. The romance is there but not the main focus. It was a really quick read with developed characters and a very steady pace.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Between Good And Evil in Books

I love a mystery that wastes no time with setup and has me in suspense from page 1, and Between Good and Evil did just that. It took a bit to catch on to what was happening in Auburn Notch, but thats not a bad thing. The reader is left to piece things together as the story unfolds just as the characters are, and there is a lot going on. The characters are well formed and the descriptions very detailed. This was a good first installment, and Ill be watching for more Promise Flynn.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Blackberry Burial (A Berry Basket Mystery #2) in Books

NOTE: I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy provided to me by the author.
Marlee and friends are back in the 2nd Berry Basket Mystery, and I enjoyed this one even more than the first. While surveying a possible starting location for the annual road rally, Marlee finds the body of a girl missing for 20 years hidden in the overgrowth. Can she catch a killer when the murder happened so long ago?
I enjoy reading about Marlee and her friends, and I would love to visit Oriole Point. With such a great combination of characters, setting, and suspense, Im already looking forward to book #3.

Incredibly unique book will keep you guessing
This novel is unlike anything I have read before. Each time I thought I was starting to get it, it would change on me just enough to get me guessing again. The characters are each unique and vibrant individuals, no small task considering the same man was inhabiting several of them, and the story is beautifully written. Even without the element of mystery, I would have been hooked. It’s a story I can’t say too much about without giving things away, but I can say that it was the best thing I’ve read in ages.
Andy K (10821 KP) rated The Thing (1982) in Movies

Not that many films better than this!
I don't know if I can recall the amount of times I have watched The Thing in sheer amazement every time.
The suspense is still there not knowing which member of the Antarctica squad will become a mutation next or even when The Thing will reveal itself to them and the audience.
Some may say Halloween is Carpenter's best film which is hard to argue against; however, I love The Thing most of all.
I can still watch it again and again and be mesmerized, disgusted and in wonderment of its sheer majesty every time.

This is the second part in this set but the seventh part in this series by this authjor. These books need to be read in order to fully understand the story between the characters. This book is full of twists and turns, surprises, drama, lies, betrayal and loads of suspense. amazing well written characters just like the first book. This is a short read but the author has packed a lot into the pages. I can't wait to read more in this set and by this author in the future.

This is the first book in this series by this author. Be warned this book has a cliff hanger ending. This is an amazing book from the first page. The characters were amazing and I fell in love with them right from the start. This is a romance read with added mystery and suspense thrown into the mix. I couldn't put this book down till I'd finished it, I was on the edge of my seat till the very end. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Merissa (11938 KP) rated The Witching Pen (The Witching Pen Novellas, #1) in Books
Dec 17, 2018
This is the full length story of Elena and Karl and it starts when Karl is 27. For a long time, Elena and Karl have kept their relationship purely platonic due to circumstances "beyond their control" but things are about to change.
This story is full of action, romance, drama and suspense. You find out little snippets as you read along and the characters are built up. There is no insta-love in this book, just a deep and true friendship that could always have been something more if things had been different.
Absolutely brilliant and an ending which definitely makes you reach for the next book in the series!

Awix (3310 KP) rated La Ley del Deseo (Law of Desire) (1987) in Movies
Apr 2, 2020 (Updated Apr 2, 2020)
Almodovar's sixth movie is the one that brought him properly to international attention, but it's clear that his distinctive style was already well-developed by this point: there is the same skilful combination of suspense-movie tropes with sometimes-outrageous melodrama, and a sense of narrative playfulness.
Very strong performances from Antonio Banderas and Carmen Maura in particular, although the script seems to lack some of the deftness and confidence Almodovar would show in later movies - the shift from relationship drama to thriller isn't quite as well handled as one could hope for, and some elements of the story really do strain credibility. Nevertheless, an accomplished and engaging movie.
