A Carpenter Masterpiece
With an excellent eerie score, chilling suspenseful tone, realistic grounded acting, unforgettable quotable dialog, and genius inventive camera work. John Carpenter's classic slasher about a boogeyman possessed escaped inmate stalking babysitters on All Hallows Eve has been a huge inspiration for slasher films in generally. Not mention it spawned 7 sequels, a remake with a sequel, and a reboot. But after all these years John Carpenter's original Halloween still stands tall above the rest. A masterpiece!

Choice-driven narrative (2 more)
Suspenseful
Graphics
Very slow-paced (2 more)
Confusing 'inventory'
Linear despite decision-making
What I like about this game is that you essentially get to play out your own horror movie. The choices you make will effect who lives and who dies. Along the way, the narrative is suspenseful (though often too filled with dialogue) and has a decent amount of action as the game develops. The slow-pace is incredibly frustrating and one can imagine the game play would be cut in half if the characters could walk at a decent pace and the cut scenes be reduced by 20%. Though 'choice-driven', the narrative is very linear and you are led through the game - no free-roam. On top of this, it's hard to understand the items you collect along the way. Nonetheless, it's still fun and unusual. Great to play with friends as you all get involved and it's like watching a personal movie develop for your enjoyment. Difficult to re-play because the linear narrative makes it hard to go through everything so slowly again.

Beans and Chianti
Hopkins and Foster deliver a suspenseful thriller about a serial killer who is helping the FBI in tracking down the daughter of a US senator who has been kidnapped by and unteachable serial killer. The solo interactions between FOster and Hopkins get under your skin cause they are so dark at times. Hopkins character leaves such and impression it makes us want more and the movie does spawn 3 more movies about Hannibal Lechters life

What isn’t good about this epic movie? (2 more)
So cool to see the whole of marvel come together to fight one mother of a villain.
Funny, action packed, suspenseful, and emotional.
That ending...why?!?!? (1 more)
I left the theater feeling personally victimized by Marvel.
I’m still upset about that ending, but it was a great movie. I already want to torture myself again by going to see it a second time. Thanos really lived up to all the hype, in my opinion.
Kristy H (1252 KP) rated Winter's Child (Deborah Knott Mysteries, #12) in Books
Feb 13, 2018
The latest (as of mid-2007) in Margaret Maron's enjoyable Deborah Knotts series.
Now married, Deborah and Dwight face several challenges, including a murder Dwight must investigate in their small North Carolina town. While involved in that investigation, the pair find out that Dwight's ex-wife, Jonna (mother of his young son Cal) has gone missing. Dwight -- and eventually Deborah -- must travel to his ex-wife's hometown to search for Jonna, and soon, Cal as well.
Very enjoyable and suspenseful novel.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2494 KP) rated Madness at Moonshiner's Bay (Accidental Detectives, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The Accidental Detectives are off to Disney World, only their trip is interrupted when Ricky, Joel, and Lisa are kidnapped and trapped on an island guarded by an alligator. Can they figure out what their captor's want? Definitely one of the more suspenseful books in the series, but still so very good. My feet get clammy just thinking about some of the scenes.
