I really stepped outside my usual genres with this one. Recommended to me by a friend, I decided to give it a chance. I was instantly hooked and could not stop reading it. Like the people in the book who lived in a virtual reality, I too found myself totally immersed in this book. I could see, feel, smell, touch and taste the world created by Ernest Cline.

Fast, light, easy and absorbing, just what I look for when I need help getting out of a book standstill. So it's not high literature, it's implausible, mostly predictable, dated, the main character's morals questionable, so what? Sometimes you just need a Jackie Collins-esque book that requires little attention, that's what you get here. If it wasn't a throwaway book, meaning I wouldn't read it again or remember much about it in the future, I'd almost give it four stars because of the fun factor alone. So, if you like a little romance, a bit of mystery, have a taste for the ridiculous and don't expect much, then you'll probably enjoy it.

A Surprising Gem
I can honestly say that this book surprised me. When I first started reading it, I felt somewhat bored and thought I wouldn't finish it. I am glad that I put it down and came back to it later in the day because once I started reading it again I couldn't put it down. The storyline flows ever so smoothly and the characters are beautiful though I must say that Catherine left a bad taste in my mouth. In reading this I was left with the desire to roam freely within Willow Hall and the grounds. I grew rather fond of Lydia and John and I hope that the author will continue their story.

I love Sloan - I think Oriana is a bit annoying - woe is me until further toward the end where she gets more into herself - guess that's growth as a character which I like anyway.

I love Vanek too - he's my bae - I can't believe I haven't read his book yet and that makes me sad, just a taste of it at the end, wahhh!!!

Max and Dominick are just background noise to me in this book - neither stood out and neither were special to me in any way.

I love hockey books and the story and the end were pretty sweet too. Random thoughts - I adore this series though perhaps I'll go to Vaneks book next!
