Dean (6921 KP) rated Rocky Balboa (2006) in Movies
Mar 2, 2018
A good fitting end to the series. Very nostalgic looking back over everything he has achieved over his career and seemingly gone almost full circle back to where he started.
Erika (17788 KP) rated The Initiation / The Captive Part I (The Secret Circle, #1-2) in Books
Sep 30, 2019 (Updated Oct 1, 2019)
I read the Secret Circle novels after they announced the television series.
These books are alright, LJ's writing is so intensely readable, I still love it, after all these years.
The reason I think these two books are just ok was because I wasn't really a fan of the main character. If you like LJ Smith, this series is definitely readable.

EmersonRose (320 KP) rated Briar's Book (Circle of Magic, #4) in Books
Nov 20, 2019
This is the final book in the Circle of Magic series and was a wonderful end. This was certainly the most emotional of the books in the series and continued the strength this series has in creating strong friendships. I am not going to lie, this book made me cry a little, but I enjoyed the emotional rollercoaster. I am so glad I picked up this series, even though it took me so long after starting the Tortall books eight years ago, but I loved these books and characters. I am definitely going to keep exploring this world.

David McK (3188 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of Shadow Of The Tomb Raider in Video Games
Dec 14, 2019
The third - and final? - entry in EA's reboot of the Tomb Raider series (after both the simply named 'Tomb Raider' and 'Rise of the Tomb Raider'), a series that completely ignores all previous Tomb Raider games ever released since 1996(!).
This time, Lara is out to save the world from an apocalyptic Mayan threat that she has unleashed by accident: a task that seemingly involves lots of sneaking around (far more that I remember in the previous entries) punctuated by occasional bursts of gunplay. And very few Tombs that need raiding.
Personally, I find it somewhat ironic that the series as a whole seems to be trying to ape the (IMO, better) 'Uncharted' series, with added quicktime events, as that - Uncharted - series itself is obviously heavily inspired by the earlier Tomb Raider games, which themselves had faced criticism of being 'Indiana Jane'! It's almost as if we've come full circle here ...

Billie Wichkan (118 KP) rated The Stone Circle (Ruth Galloway, #11) in Books
May 22, 2019
DCI Nelson has been receiving threatening letters telling him to 'go to the stone circle and rescue the innocent who is buried there'. He is shaken, not only because children are very much on his mind, with Michelle's baby due to be born, but because although the letters are anonymous, they are somehow familiar. They read like the letters that first drew him into the case of The Crossing Places, and to Ruth. But the author of those letters is dead. Or are they?
Meanwhile Ruth is working on a dig in the Saltmarsh - another henge, known by the archaeologists as the stone circle - trying not to think about the baby. Then bones are found on the site, and identified as those of Margaret Lacey, a twelve-year-old girl who disappeared thirty years ago.
As the Margaret Lacey case progresses, more and more aspects of it begin to hark back to that first case of The Crossing Places, and to Scarlett Henderson, the girl Nelson couldn't save. The past is reaching out for Ruth and Nelson, and its grip is deadly.
Another great episode in Elly Griffiths Ruth Galloway series.
The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths is the 11th in the Ruth Galloway mystery series.
This 11th instalment of the series bids homage to the first book which was really nostalgic.
I really like the plot of this one it's paced perfectly.
Love all the twists and turns we experience and the flashback brought in.
I adore all the characters and can just picture it all.
There is nothing not to love about this book.
Looking forward to the next book in the series!
Enormous thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Dean (6921 KP) rated Fast Five (2011) in Movies
Feb 11, 2018
Fast Five star! The series has gone full circle and this one breathes new life into the series which got stronger with the 4th installment and is bettered by this one! We have even more of the cast from the earlier films including Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson from the second. Not to mention another surprise cameo after the credits to hint at a 6th film!
This one goes from street racing to heist film, but there are plenty of big stunts, fights, sexy girls, humour, a cool soundtrack and of course a range of awesome cars. I love that there are so many ties with the cast and events to the previous films. The Rock is a great addition to the series as the extreme FBI hunter sent to capture them. You couldn't ask for more from an action film!

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Chaos Evolves (After the EMP Book 6) in Books
Jan 15, 2018
In this sixth book in the series the characters and their relationships continue to evolve. Some for good others not so much. The quest for a safe place and survival comes full circle just as all seems lost. Colt and Dani run into another man just trying to survive and keep his family alive. He is familiar to Colt. The pilot from the plane. This is where books 1-3 and 4-6 merge. Looking forward to see what happens next.
EmersonRose (320 KP) rated Daja's Book (Circle of Magic, #3) in Books
Nov 20, 2019
This continuation of Tamora Pierce’s Circle of Magic series careers with it the same magical world and the same characters that she made me love in the first book. I enjoy that in each book not only do the title characters get more backstory and more fleshed out but the entire cast of characters receive more depth. My favorite part of this book is the connection that has been forming between the characters. The strength of their bond carries the story, and I love the way in which their friendship manifests.
Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Siege and Storm in Books
Feb 19, 2018
This continuation of the story started in Shadow and Bone has Alina running from the Darkling, the Apparat, and at times even trying to run from her own power and the person she is becoming. I thought the author did a good job keeping the dynamics between the characters from getting stale while still keeping them believable. Whenever there is a romance (especially, it seems, in YA), there has to be some type of conflict to keep it interesting if it is going to span a series. Here there is conflict both within Alina’s inner circle and from without, which keeps it interesting and keeps the story flying along at a fast pace. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
