There is a war coming.
And it will change everything.
For Sienna Faremin, staying alive has been merely a byproduct of the torture she received for over a decade.
Running one mission after another for the Magick council, she is nothing more than their personal assassin, leaving her hands bloodier than most.
When she's tasked with killing a man believed to be the last surviving member of a Guardian family, Sienna accepts, only to discover the man she's supposed to kill, is none other than Daxon Ward, one of only two survivors she saved the night the Guardian academy burned to the ground.
As she dives deeper into the truth behind the attack, Sienna discovers a web of lies and deceit carefully woven into place in order to cover a deadly plot that would change the realm...forever.
I’ve grown to really enjoy Jessica Wayne and she didn’t disappoint with this book. I read the prequel The Last Ward and knew it showed promise so I was really looking forward to seeing where she took the fist book and I really enjoyed it! Her character me are solid and this had a kind of Throne of Glass by Sarah j Maas feel to it! Definitely a series worth sticking with if you like a fast paced adventure!

Merissa (13956 KP) rated Alpha's Curvy Obsession (Primal Alphas #8) in Books
Mar 30, 2026 (Updated Mar 30, 2026)
This is a fast-paced, insta-love between an art collector and an artist. He is older, established, and a billionaire. She is twenty-two, just starting out in life, and living on ramen noodles. He has been obsessed for three years, but only now gets to meet her properly.
The premise of the story is an intriguing one, but it never really fulfils its promise. A lot is skimmed over, which I know is usually the way with a novella, but for the topics covered, I feel it should have more depth. It is definitely more focused on the steamy scenes rather than the story. And maybe it was how I read it, but the timeline didn't fully match up. She wins the award, he invites her to his gallery, she goes into heat for three days, and is pregnant by the end of it. But then the next chapter says six months later, and she's only four-and-a-half months pregnant? Maybe I missed something? I would also have liked the cover to represent the FMC.
Anyway, if you're after a steamy omegaverse, then this might be just what you wanted.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Lindsay (1812 KP) rated The Costume Contest (Mariana Books Rhyming #2) in Books
Oct 14, 2021
We meet Aaron and Ava for this story. The story behind this is sweet. Will Aaron help his little sister out with her costume and the contest? You will see that Aaron wants to be something different for Halloween? But did Aaron promise to be a cat with Ava or not?
Children will learn about conflict solutions and solving problems through cooperation. I like how the two kids figure out their trick-or-treating costumes between themselves, though with parents’ support. What does Aaron decide to do?
The author put this story on Halloween, focused on friendship, and saw what happens when they trick-treating. Who ends up willing to participate in the costume contest? The pictures are so colorful. Are the different costumes you see while Aaron and Ava are trick or treating? This book is a sweet story and has a few teaching lessons through the book.
Parents will enjoy having this book on their shelves. Children will want to read this book again and again. It is suitable for the Halloween season, along with some teachable lessons for children.
